Hi, I'm hypo, on 100 mg Levo thyroxine, gluten free.

I have be having sore, dry sensation in my throat when I've worked too much or am anxious, also brain fog.

Is this anything to do with Hashimotos.🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻

It could be. You could be under-medicated. How long have you been on 100 mcg? When did you have your last blood test?

If not retested thyroid and vitamins since going gluten free, it's likely time to retest

All thyroid tests should ideally be done as early as possible in morning and fasting. When on Levothyroxine, don't take in the 24 hours prior to test, delay and take straight after test. This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip, GP will be unaware)

I've had GP thyroid function test as follows:

Serum TSH level. 0.47. (0.27-4.20)

Serum free T4 level. 16.3 (11.0-25.0)

I had bloods drawn prior to taking thyroxine.🌻🌻🌻

I have been 100levo sincefebruary

I' ve had a medicheck test last year, I think I'll have another after my holidays in September.

Will post results on this site.

Thankyou for your your replies, I have found this forum in valuable.πŸ’–πŸ’–πŸ’–

Your experience sounds similar to mine, and it does seem likely you need an increase. I felt better since starting levothyroxine (25mcg because I'm older), increased to 50 a few weeks ago) but still get a dry cough and sometimes a tight feeling in my throat.

My ability to concentrate seems like a well where the water seeps in slowly. If too much is used too fast it dries up for a time. The harder you concentrate the sooner it seems to get used up. Being anxious makes it worse. I've learned to just accept the fact there is only so much brain energy available and rest when it runs out.

Thanks, you've explained exactly my issue.

But I'm finding it difficult to accept at the moment. 🌻 🌻🌻

Nobody is going to see your replies because you haven't clicked on the 'Reply' button at the bottom of any replies. I just happened on this by chance.

When did you have that GP test? You need an increase in dose because your FT4 is too low. It needs to be at least over mid-range. :)

How long on levo? I had those exact same symptoms for over six months before I talked my endo into adding T3 to my T4. He added 5mcg, twice a day, two months ago. I felt an immediate difference. I was taking .88 mcg of Levo at that time and for the first month I got heart palpitations and headaches at night, after taking both pills and then brain fog in the mornings, lasting all throughout the day. I stopped taking the T4, cold, after the first month, even though GP suggested it was the T3 pill that was the "culprit." After only 24-48 hours I was a "new man," no heart palps or headaches or brain fog.

I've not "looked back" yet, although my wife is busting my chops daily to take the T4 again, with the T3. I am 5 weeks on T3 only and have no symptoms but cold hands, and sometimes feet, in early mornings and late at night, but that is becoming better and better,, as I continue to (self-medicate) raise the dose, as I got the endo to raise me from 5 mcg to 10, twice a day, and I added another 5 myself, to 12.5mcg, twice a day, so actually (25mcg) and, like I said, just have the coldness in my hands in the mornings and, sometimes at night. Hope this helps you a bit and peace go with you.

Hi greygoose,

I had GP test 11 days ago.

I told gp that I was tired/lethargic, I had a full blood count and liver function test; would it benefit if I posted full results on here? 🌻
