Could you have caught Covid? I did about 3 weeks ago and for the first few days the worst symptom was a sore throat—I described it to others like “gargling razor blades while simultaneously being punched in the front of the neck”—but there was very little to be seen from inside my mouth.
Painkillers didn’t do a lot for me either, other than making it slightly less painful to swallow.
Thank you for your reply. I don’t have covid because I have just recovered from it. I went to the doctor today about my ear (my first symptom of covid) and she said I have a throat and ear infection. I’m now on antibiotics. I’m glad I know what it is.
Tim Spector of the Zoe App says if you wake up with a sore throat and fatigue then assume you have covid until you can do a test. Please stay away from others until you have tested. Be well!
It’s definitely not covid. I went to the doctor and I have an ear infection as well as a throat infection. I’m sure it’s because of the covid I have just had.
I hope you are OK? Have you checked with the DR. I had similar symptoms which had been going on for some time. It turned out to be throat cancer caused by the HPV virus. I am now all clear and very healthy. Worth getting it checked out. I had no cancer risk factors just a great GP who caught it.
Wow! What a horrible experience for you. It must be such a relief to know you’re okay. And what a great doctor to pick it up early. I went to the doctor today about my ear because it’s been blocked and sore. It’s the third time I have been and the second set of antibiotics I have had because of it. She said my throat is infected too. Hopefully the antibiotics will clear it now.
Hi, can I ask how you were diagnosed with throat cancer? Was it ENT or MRI? As I’ve been experiencing similar for two months now and the doctor still hasn’t referred me to get checked
The GP had recently been on a HPV course and although I did not have risk factors she referred me to ENT, where again the consultant confirmed I did not have any risk factors and no signs of blood and did not think it was cancer. Just to be sure he put a fibre optic camera up my nose and down my throat where he discovered a golf ball sized lump at the base of my tongue which was later diagnosed as HPV related cancer. I suspect most GPs would have missed it and I am very grateful to mine and the consultant who wanted to be sure. I hope you get well soon. The good news is that I am fully fit now, I have learnt a lot of lessons about life style and how it affects health. Good luck
Thank you for getting back to me. You must have been very uncomfortable with it at that size and at the base of your tongue! I’ll probably have to self refer if the doctor just keeps throwing pills at me instead allowing me to be seen by a specialist. Glad you’re well and fit! May it continue 🙂
