Back and muscles aches

Aches seem to move around from legs, arms. Today it’s my back and arms. Aching is a fairly new symptom for me (since March ). Why might this be? Still hyp according to nhs blood tests. Mid range t4 and under half way range t3 with a tsh of 4. Have since upped thyroid meds (will be 6 weeks on increased dose next week so hopefully tsh will have come down as frees up). The aches are really bad today. Vitamins are all almost optimal except for saturated iron which I’m now supplementing.

Is it normal for new symptoms to show? I assumed that as you near optimal treatment, your symptoms lessen.. I didn’t expect to gain ailments! Can anyone advise? Having to take paracetamol for the pain!

Also I’m on a strict paleo diet so no grains/ dairy and gluten and avoiding nightshade.

Thanks x

But I didn’t have it before? I was more hypo then...it doesn’t seem logical.

And am I right I’m thinking, I upped my levo 5 weeks ago... I wouldn’t be feeling the benefit of that just yet would I?

Thanks marz

There's nothing logical about thyroid! It's a topsy-turvy world.

You should be feeling the full benefit of a dose increase around the 6 weeks mark. But, people often feel well for a while on a new dose, and then symptoms come creeping back in. And, yes, often new symptoms. There's nothing strange about that.

However, it could be that you have nutritional deficiencies causing symptoms. Muscle pain can be down to low zinc - hypos are often low in zinc and high in copper. So, try taking 15 mg zinc and see if it helps. And, you should get your vit d, vit B12, folate and ferritin tested. These all need to be optimal for your body to use thyroid hormone efficiently. :)

Thanks gg. My vitamins are getting there but I didn’t know about zinc. When is it best to

Supplement?

Thanks

Any time, as long as it is at least two hours away from levo. :)

I suggest you try liquid Magnesium - I just spray it on the spot concerned

and within a couple of minutes the pain is gone - You could be lacking in magnesium.

Worth trying.

I already use a magnesium spray. I have had spinal de-compression surgery - Tensor Fascia Latta surgery and I work on my inflammation levels due to Crohns and Hashimotos. I also have had a spondylilothesis for over 50 years at L4/L5. Perhaps your suggestion was for Dee. 😊
