Hi

I have Hashimotos, and am currently taking 75mg thyroxine. I did have to negotiate with my Endo to get this - started on 25mgthrn up to 50mg after 2 weeks and75mg after six weeks blood test. In total I have been taking thyroxine for 2.5 months

Symptoms are weight gain, tiredness, itchy skin, irregular periods. Taking the thyroxine has reduced the tiredness but nothing else.

My thyroid antibodies are very high but have been coming down since I went gluten and dairy free in January. (Nearly 600 9 months ago).

My results this time round are:

SE thyroid peroxidase AB conc 283iu/mL (0-50)

Vit D 64 (75-200) - now taking a high dose supplement to try and increase

Serum ferritin 86 (15-250)

Serum folate 16.2 (2-17)

Plasma vitamin B12 level 422 (200-900)

TSH 0.94 (0.35-5)

TSH has had so many fluctuations over the years....

Free T4 16.8 (9-24)

Free T3 3.9 (3.5-6.5)

Any thoughts other than carry on what I’m doing?

Hi. Your fT4 is only mid-range and your fT3 is low, so you clearly haven’t reached your ideal dose yet. You should test and increase by 25 mcg every 6 weeks until your fT4 and fT3 are in the top quarter of their ranges. You certainly won’t feel well with such a low fT3. It’s good that you’ve reduced your antibodies by going gluten free. You can also take 200mg selenium supplement to help with this.

What dosage of vit D3 are you taking? That low level will of Vit D will be contributing to your symptoms.

Thank you! I’m taking 3000i.u. Of vitamin D.

I think I will ask to increase to 100mcg of thyroxine and get retested in 6 weeks. Thank you

Hi. Are you taking the co-factors, magnesium and vit K2 with your vit d3? They help with absorption.
