I don't have hyperthyroidism but have been looking online at symptoms and treatments as my friend's son was recently diagnosed.

Pruritis ( itching) seems to a fairly common symptom. If you google " pruritis and hyperthyroidism " it will give you some good websites.

It might be earth checking with a nurse or dr that there's no fungal infection causing the itching. With all the hot weather we've been having causing more sweating, perhaps wetness left from showers as it cools you down, it could be that.

Thank you very much. I will check the "pruritis and hyperthyoidism" out and read up about it. I appreciate your reply. Thanks again.

Hi I have it as does my friend(who has no thyroid issues)

Both allergies- mine from a shampoo that was supposed to be natural lol.

Lucky I was at an ent apt for my tonsils or nose break and he said oh yes excema.

He made gp put synalar on prescription- it’s only cheap. I think £5 for a decent tube. Yes it’s steroidal but fab.

He said don’t scratch it as it makes it worse.

Hopefully your gp will give you some- my friend just went to hers and got it. Lasts ages (but I keep stocked up.) looks like Vaseline.

I truly do understand it was a nightmare. If left you’ll get infections too.

The reason I asked was if on outside you can by hc45 cream which is white like savlon ( and steroidal) but you cannot put it inside the ear say with a cotton bud.

Good luck

I have severely itchy ears but I have hypothyroidism.

I also have eczema on my hands.

On the assumption that I have eczema in my ears I found something I could buy without prescription that includes a low dose of hydrocortisone and also lidocaine (for pain relief).

superdrug.com/Health/Stomac...

It's sold for treating external piles - and my husband thinks its hilarious that I use it in my ears. :D

I spray once into each ear that itches. And it helps. But obviously if you try this you do so at your own risk!

Humanbean, that certainly is interesting and something else that I may

consider buying. Thank you very much for taking time and sharing this with me.

It's a good idea to lie down when you spray into your ear to allow it to trickle further in for a minute.

I use it up to three times a day when I need to but I've never used it for more than two consecutive days without taking a break of several days.

Overuse of hydrocortisone can thin the skin and I don't want to permanently damage the inside of my ears. I've managed to avoid thinning the skin on my hands despite having eczema most of the last fifty years, so I must be doing something right. :)

Yes that makes sense and so thank you for getting back to me. Hopefully we can both get some relief from the itchy ear syndrome. It's all trial and error and common sense. I appreciate you taking the time to share your experiences here.
