I've read through different things about itchy ears. For me personally, first time in my life I experience such thing that the itch starts from the outer part of the ear and each time develops fast to a feeling like a bug is running into my ear and is messing around in there. It's already eating my nerves (maybe it is something neurological who knows), disturbing my sleep badly. I've used hydrocortisone cream which relieves it a little bit but not always. It's been going on for days. Also my eyes, nose and face in general feel a bit itchy but it's not that bad. No discharge from the ears, no wax detected (maybe somewhere deep where I don't dig), skin generally much drier (may blame the hormonal levels). I have sent an email to my doctor today (because of Sunday and I wanna sleep next night) but I'm curious if anyone literally knows what's this "bug syndrome" or has experienced it. A fungal infection? Dermatitis? Thyroid/adrenal hormones gone out of control again(must check them too)?
Thanks in advance,
Liis

Thank you for the quick reply! I also suspect the very dry weather lately, day and night, is not serving the skin positively as in my country we usually have rather humid weather.
Interesting! I'm actually on T3 only and my blood levels have been consistently good (even each time the same!). Now I need to check it again since I've been experiencing returning symptoms of adrenal fatigue (low cortisol) last month which may have disturbed how T3 works. Thanks for your input!
Yes, I'm taking methyl B complex as drops, occasionally vit. D but not for the moment, magnesium citrate + B6, zinc and vit. C when I remember...can't remember if anything else. Low ferritin has never given me this ear problem and my ferritin has been almost none at times. But I should check all the hormones and iron etc anyway. I started to think maybe my body doesn't process any of these supplements well...
P.S. I have done allergy tests (from arm skin) not very long ago but you never know..since I was also on HC already the test may have given false results. That's also on my mind generally, to check allergies from blood test. Maybe some pollen right now...
You are right about that. I have checked certain vitamin levels not very long ago but by now might need to do it again. However, in the past I've had adverse effects from some vitamin products (oversensitive), so that's why guessing or suspecting. My doctor is going to check my ear(s) and then decide what to do about it specifically.
I've been self-medicating with HC (15-20 mg per day) for more than a year based on cortisol saliva tests and it has saved my life, especially during our extremely cold winters and since no doctors here address a thing called adrenal fatigue. Now, lately I've "magically" started to experience those of adrenal fatigue related symptoms again that were not present for a while (night time internal shivering included). Gotta get rich to test everything again.
I'd like to add here something I've noticed. I have chronic tonsillitis (if that's how it's called), basically my tonsils dealing with some crap on a daily basis (might be due to postnasal drip, some other issue in the body system etc), tonsils are very small, shrunk by the years (or decades) long inflammation. So it's not necessary to remove them because of being too big etc. And every now an then when the environment and all factors are good, I don't even feel any problem with them. So now...one thing I noticed lately is that although the source of inflammation is still present, I don't feel as much mucus in the tonsils..and since then I feel the problem with the ears. I almost suspect that this "crap is traveling around" in tonsils, teeth (those occasionally hurt out of nowhere), ears, nose. And wherever is the most suitable spot for the inflammation to settle in, there it goes. Maybe I'm wrong. But these parts of the body are not far from each other. The itch has gone much better since I'm using a lot of zinc cream and wearing a thin headband/cover that doesn't allow little hair to tickle my face and ears neither any dust or pollen to fly directly on my ears. Some moments the itch returns badly. Once my tonsils feels more sick again, the ears feel relief. That's why coming up with this philosophy. 😀 So maybe it helps anyone else too lol. In case this situation stays for too long I'll demand (yes demand cause so far my doc didn't find it necessary) to be referred to a nose-ear-throat doctor. Or even a dermatologist.
