I do think good thyroid production speeds up wax production. I have noticed my health improve over the years and wax production has gone up.

I used to need my ears syringing every 3 months without fail because I produced so much ear wax. But since I’ve been taking T3 only (the last 4 years) I’ve only needed them syringed a few times.

I don't suffer from blocked ears caused by wax build up, but I do suffer recurring bouts of eustachian tube blockage for which my GP always prescribes Nasobec Aqueous.

I’m the same. But this only happens when I start swimming ( used to swim three times a wk) so unfortunately I stopped swimming some 12 months since and I have had no problems with my ears.

I have always produced huge amounts of ear wax. It rarely gives me a problem, but I have had a couple of ear infections in my life and each time, the doctor has commented on the amount of wax I produce.

Yes, fluid and itchy but no wax. Very sore in the morning. Dr prescribed ear drops but made no difference.

Interesting, I've had the same. My left ear itches almost constantly & the wax is not the right consistency- also ear feels wet. Never thought to mention thyroid to ENT!

Yes, have always produced lots of wax and was forever having them syringed. I still do and my left ear in particular always feels blocked but nowadays I pay and have them ‘vacuumed’.

One day I think I might go for one if those free hearing tests I keep seeing advertised.

Yes and it makes me miserable :( doc have me olive oil drops but doesn't help. Every time I have a shower makes it worse. And when I get out of bed I'm nearly deaf in my right ear. Clicking and crackling all the time :(

I have tinnitus and when I get out of bed I am also nearly deaf in left ear [despite fact I mostly sleep on right side] sometimes it can take until late afternoon for the deafness to pass - tld GP and he told me to go to specsavers for hearing test. Why are they do incapable of joining the dots?????? Glad to know that I am not going mad and that others are also affected like this even thought it isn't nice for any of us

Try NAC as it is known (even in the conventional medical world surprisingly) for its efficacy in the treatment of stubborn ear infections and glue ear. Basically, it is very good at thinning all kinds of mucus. I prefer to take it after a meal as it is a bit harsh on the stomach. It has lots of benefits - very useful after a cold to prevent complications like chest infections.

I have been suffering from tinnitus for 2 years and it is only in one ear. I haven't suffered hearing loss because of it but after doing some research a lot people with tinnitus have thyroid problems. Sometimes I barely notice the tinnitus but I become aware of it when I am trying to sleep and it is very loud now because I am alone in bed using my laptop.
