I was told in 2013 I have antibodies attacking thyroid

Thyroid peroxidase antibodies 803 (<34)

My symptoms are

Brain zaps

Brain fog

Migraines

Constipation

Upset stomach

Heavy periods

Dry skin

Eczema

Puffy eyes

Palpitations

Goitre

Chest pain

Low heart rate

High blood pressure

Tiredness

Aching in back and head and joints

Low concentration

Ears ringing

Feeling cold

Numbness

Dizziness

Double vision

Depression

Anxiety

Are they related to autoimmune? Thank you

TSH 4.35 (0.2 - 4.2)

FREE T4 12.9 (12 - 22)

FREE T3 4.1 (3.1 - 6.8)

It’s more that they’re related to hypothyroidism rather than “autoimmune”. Are you on any thyroid hormone replacement? Levothyroxine?

And how long have you been taking 25mcg? That’s a tiny dose - so it’s likely you need more (possibly much more). You should be being tested every 6-8 weeks and the dosage raised until symptoms resolve - has that happened?

Thank you I have been taking this since April 2018 my results I have been told are satisfactory and no dose increase has been arranged

No, no - your results aren’t satisfactory. The aim for a treated hypothyroid patient is to get TSH below 1.0 and FT3 high in range. You need an increase in dose.

Many doctors these days know nothing about thyroid dysfunction and believe “in range” is fine. But it isn’t. Go back to your GP and ask if you can have a raise in dosage (to at least 50mcg).
