Suprising (good) thyroid retests, reduction in antibodies?

Hi guys,

It's been a while since I posted here, but for the sake of continuity or it might help others I thought I would post an update since this new test paints an almost completely different picture, especially a big reduction in Thyroglobulin antibodies. For reference I haven't been on any kind of throid treatment or medication.

So about 2 years ago my throid tests were as follows:

- BIOCHEMISTRY -

CRP 0.70 (<5.0) mg/L

Ferritin 254.7 (30 - 400) ug/L

- THYROID FUNCTION -

TSH 0.01 (0.27 - 4.20) IU/L

T4 Total 139.0 (64.5 - 142.0) nmol/L

Free T4 28.27 (12 - 22) pmol/L

Free T3 8.33 (3.1 - 6.8) pmol/L

Reverse T3 36.0 (10 - 24) ng/dL

Reverse T3 ratio 15.06 (>20) Ratio

- IMMUNOLOGY -

Anti-Thyroidperoxidase abs 9.3 (<34) kIU/L

Anti-Thyroglobulin Abs 168.7 (<115) kU/L

- OTHER -

Vitamin D (25 OH) 55 nmol/L

Serum Folate >45.4 (10.4 - 42.4) nmol/L

----------

Now fast forward 2 years and I have these results:

- BIOCHEMISTRY -

CRP - HIGH SENSITIVITY 0.2 mg/l (0.00 - 5.00)

FERRITIN 304 ug/L (30.00 - 400.00)

- ENDOCRINOLOGY -

THYROID STIMULATING HORMONE 1.59 mIU/L (0.27 - 4.20)

FREE THYROXINE 17.800 pmol/L (12.00 - 22.00)

TOTAL THYROXINE(T4) 89.0 nmol/L (59.00 - 154.00)

FREE T3 4.52 pmol/L (3.10 - 6.80)

REVERSE T3 21 ng/dL (10.00 - 24.00)

REVERSE T3 RATIO *14.01 (15.01 - 75.00)

THYROGLOBULIN ANTIBODY <10 IU/mL (0.00 - 115.00)

THYROID PEROXIDASE ANTIBODIES 9.93 IU/mL (0.00 - 34.00)

- HAEMATOLOGY -

ACTIVE B12 93.900 pmol/L (25.10 - 165.00)

FOLATE (SERUM) 19.14 ug/L (2.91 - 50.00)

25 OH VITAMIN D *34.9 nmol/L (50.00 - 200.00)

There was a comment about the low saying: "Your FT3/rT3 ratio is low which could suggest that you are not getting sufficient free triiodothyronine (FT3) into your cells. Other conditions can cause difficulties converting thyroxine to T3 and cause rT3 to rise. These include COPD, liver disease, diabetes, heart failure and low calorie diets." But I'm thinking its probably down to low calorie diets since I do eat a lot of salads.

What do you guys think based on the updated results? As I'm thinking this is good, but should I be worried about the two almost conflicting results? For reference in this time I have had all my mercury fillings replaced, and 3 root canals removed. I am also taking a fair bit of Vitamin C (5-15g orally, with occasional liposomal), magnesium spray and some capsules, all daily.

The first set of tests were done through Blue Horizon and County Pathlology, the second through the website medichecks.com, should that make a difference?

Your TSH could come down to 1or lower and FT3 higher so an increase might be worthwhile. Your Vit D is too low and it is a pro-hormone like B12. Others will respond as well.

The first test you had were more than likely during a Hashi's flare, which is why you had such high Frees, and low TSH. They've not gone back to euthyroid. Antibodies are highest just after a flare. :)

Hi, I’m so pleased about your antibody results. I’m fairly new to this site and was only diagnosed 9months ago and there is so much info to learn, I’m still no expert and don’t know enough to advise you on your results, so will leave that to the experts but I’m really interested that you have had these results after removing your root canals and mercury fillings. I’ve had a gut feeling about mine for some time. My brother moved to NZ and they removed all his mercury fillings almost as soon as he stepped off the plane! Did you go to a specialist dentist for the mercury filling removal or your normal dentist? And did you then lose the teeth that had root canals? I’ve not heard of root canals being removed or the reasons behind it but I would be very interested to know. Really nice to read a positive story - thank you :)
