I just visited my Endo, below are the results from my last blood test, I am currently taking 20mg T3 (4x5mg) and 100mg Levo, along with supplements vit D, multi and C.
The doctor recommended I reduce the T3 to 15mg (3x5mg throughout the day) yet TSH is 1.5, I fell ok untill 9pm when I get really tired (feels like I have run a marathon) I did ask him to increase the dose btw.
Generally I feel ok since going on to the T3 (started about 6 weeks ago), what concerns me is my liver function and the recommended reduction in T3.
I am currently Gluten free however I had the bloods taken after a 2 week holiday for which I had eaten gluten and consumed more alcohol than I should. I also put on weight. The Endo did not seem too concerned after I told him that, he said go back to a strict low carb no gluten diet and retest in 6 weeks with a reduction in T3
I did start taking wobenzym N, however have now stopped. Unsure if this could have affected the results. Any advice on if this is true or if wobenzym works.
I have hashimoto caused by glandular fever which was dignosed around 12mths ago.
What is your endo's reason for reducing your dose of T3? The only thing wrong with your results is that TSH is rather high for someone taking T3, and your FT3 is on the low side. Personally I would be refusing to reduce.
Your Multi will be a waste of time, as advised in your previous thread. You need to test and supplement where necessary.
As you're taking D3, are you also taking it's important Cofactor magnesium and Vit K2-mk7?
Thank you for your reply. That is what I thought, he dropped it on me at the end of the appointment and I did not have time to question it. I will go back to him.
K2-mk7 (120%) is part of the multi I take. The endo recommended it (Nutri Advanced Mens Multi Essentials along with Ultra C-1000 potent, which I get at trade) he said he did not want to break up the supplements due to cost? Would you advise taking a vit test? I have only had iron and D3 tested (from memory). I will start taking magnesium. I guess the issue is how the my body adsorbs it.
Nutri Advanced is a good brand. However, looking at your Multi it contains 150mcg iodine and we shouldn't take Iodine unless tested and known we are deficient. 150mcg is 100% of the RDA, and we get a fair amount of Iodine in our diet, plus some in our Levo. Iodine is anti-thyroid and used to be used to treat overactive thyroid so it2 very important to only supplement if we are deficient.
Normally recommended here is to test Vit D, B12, Folate and Ferritin.
he said he did not want to break up the supplements due to cost?
So, he'd prefer you throw your money away on a supplement you can't absorb? Strange sense of enconomics.
Actually, Nutri Advanced Mens Multi Essentials isn't too bad because it doesn't contain iron, which would block absorption of the vitamins.
However, it does contain things you more than likely don't want - calcium and copper - and you definitely don't want to take iodine. It contains 150 µg, which is the RDA for iodine, but you will already be getting 65 mcg from your 100 mcg T4, plus about 10 mcg from the 20 mcg T3, plus what you get from food. I think you're over-dosed on iodine, there.
It also contains vit A in the form of beta carotene, which hypos have trouble converting into a usable form of vit A. And, it doesn't have enough of anything to help with a real deficiency. 400 mcg vit B12, for example, is really not very much. Have you had your vit B12 tested? 25 mg magnesium just isn't enough.
I agree with Susie, your endo had absolutely no reason to reduce your T3, cannot imagine why he did so. If I were you, I would have refused point blank.
Thanks for the guidance, when my current batch runs out I am going to split my vits. I think I need to supplement B’s, D3 and A (not in beta carotene) mag, K2 along with C.
I know I will need to get these tested as I guess it will be individual in terms of dose. Am I missing any of the key vits or mins
Thanks again for your help, I am determined to crack this or at least get as close to full health as I can.
I split it into 4 doses which I spread over the day. The last bloods were done at 11am I took Levo 4 hrs before however did not take T3 till afterwards.
