I started with 150mg morning and 150mg early afternoon then increased to 300mg morning and 150mg afternoon as I panicked that I wasn't taking enough (previously on 150mcg levothyroxine) but now I'm taking 300mg Thyrogold and 50mcg levothyroxine as I've been extremely tired during the day but I'm really trial/error right now.
Also thinking I should probably ease myself back into levothyroxine over next few months for preconception as the info is mixed on NTD and pregnancy so just to play safe.
Dreading feeling how I was on Levothyroxine only though so looking to at least weigh up my options before speaking to my doc again on Thursday.
Hi Beverly, have you asked your doctor to prescribe NDT? Armour and Nature thyroid are both available on the NHS in the UK.... You can take Levothyroxine and NDT together, you just have to be careful of the doses . I’m looking into taking Levothyroxine and Lyrothyronine ( T3) together, I have an incredibly understanding open minded doctor so I’m very lucky. 😁
I had a phone consultation but was caught off guard and not prepared. I told him how I was feeling on Levothyroxine to which he suggested it may be other things causing the symptoms (I known it's the hypothyroidism or being wrongly medicated) I mentioned NDT and he basically brushed it off but said he would speak to endo on my behalf (I'd asked about being referred) re the preconception etc and suggested I get bloods done, but I fear that's useless in UK.
I do plan to get private bloods taken but because I've been up and down and changing my doseage recently I've felt that wouldn't be any use at mo. Joy!
I totally understand how you’re feeling, as I’m going through a very similar situation. I feel absolutely rubbish all the time! I’m lethargic, I have migraines every day, fibromyalgia, dry skin, always cold , etc etc ...you know your own body and when your thyroid isn’t working properly.....even when the bloods come back “ normal” I’ve recently paid to have my reverse T3 done as that’s one test you really need, and the NHS won’t pay for it. If you go to thyroiduk.org there’s a link to medichecks and they’re a private clinic that will do all your bloods for you, they even have 15% discount at the the moment too. As for the NDT, your GP CAN prescribe it, but it’s down to their discretion. I have been prescribed both Armour and Nature Thyroid so it is possible, it’s just a case of whether they will or not.
