Hi. I have recently been changed from 120mg of Erfa thyroid to 125mcg thyroxine + 30mcg liothyronine. This is because the hospital pharmacy can no longer source the Erfa.
Six weeks in the new regimen & my Tsh is suppressed & t4 is 10 (range 9-25). I do not know yet what the t3 value is.
Am I adequately dosed?
Thank you, Michelle.

Hi Jazzw. I feel absolutely awful. Taking an hour to. One around in the morning. Slept all day yesterday, through the night last night, had a lie in this morning, however I could go back to bed now & sleep again.
You poor thing. That doesn’t sound overmedicated (though sometimes the tiredness can be due to everything going too fast) - it does sound more like undermedication.
I see from previous posts that your endo won’t test FT3. Did you ever try a private test? Blue Horizon do a whole range of tests - see bluehorizonmedicals.co.uk/t...
Hi Shelley, if you did very well on two grains of Erfa, why not find another NDT to use. Others are available. You are going from a natural T4, T3, T2, T1 with calcitonin to a synthetic T4 and synthetic T3. That will lower your FT4 result but you really have to see what your FT3 result is. Also when your T4 is that low you DO WONDER if any of that is becoming Reverse T3.
This isn't exactly what you are doing but you may find it interesting.
Shelly as others have said you may need to get an FT3 test to figure out exactly what is wrong but if TSH is suppressed and you feel hideous you could be overmedicated. I am currently overmedicated (I added T3 to existing T4 but wasn't advised to lower the T4 dose - T3 is way more potent than T4) and I feel heinous. It's similar to being hypo but not exactly like it. For instance after a shower I have to lay down due to exhaustion and heat intolerance, but I do not have many other signs of being hyper.
If you skip ALL thyroid meds for 2-3 days that will speed up washing out of the high T4 and T3 before you resume reduced dose T4+T3. I think being overmedicated is worse than being hypo.
Clutter thanks for reading and responding! You are absolutely right, my endo had me stop all meds for 3 days, and I'm on day 2 of that and already feeling better.
It's weird to me how similar hypER and hyPO can be. I assumed when I was overmedicated that I would feel boundless energy but instead I am even more exhausted and have some of my familiar hyPO symptoms again.
