Izabella Wentz-which book to get?

Question to those who read Izabella Wentz's books.

I can only get one at the moment, which one is most helpful? With "Hashimoto's Protocol" being the more recent one, does it cover whats in "Root cause" and expands? Or is it that I wont benefit from "Protocol" as much if I havent read the "Root cause" before?

Thank you so much for advice.

It depends what you need to know. Her latest book is a 90 day plan covering detox, diet, lifestyle interventions; whereas her Root Cause is about gaining knowledge/information about the disease, put simply.

Hi Hidden , with the Root Cause being about gaining information about the disease, is it a general ingormation or is it such that I can figure out what the triggers are for me specifically and how to avoid them?

And in the Hashimoto plan, again is it general for everybody or is it directed at specific root causes that can be different for different people? So for example, if I dont know whether or not I have gut overgrowth, will the Hashimoto plan help me find out and then give me the solution?

moniacho Root Cause's full title is Lifestyle Interventions for Finding the Root Cause, so for instance part III is "How to Heal" and it includes diets, supplementing etc. There are sections on toxins, triggers .... If it were me, I'd want to understand the whats and whys before I followed any "plan"; others are happy just following a plan. If you're fairly knowledgeable about hypothyroidism & autoimmune thyroiditis in any case, and can buy only one book right now, perhaps buy the new book and if it meets your needs you might find you don't need her first one.

Thats a very good point Hidden , thank you. I will be getting the Root cause then.

I only have the first book. Have you checked out her website and signed up for her Newsletters ? So much information there and the Newsletters keep you updated - saving the cost of books 😊

Hi Marz , I remember you suggeting the first book to me before. I only now have funds to purchase one, being after Chritmas ;)

Yes, I signed up for the website and newsletter. The information is interesting but Im looking for something more structured. Something that will help me pinpoint the problems specific for me, and give me advice how to solve them.

Loved her first book but found the second overwhelmingly complicated. Get the first!

I guess it depends what you want out of her books, I've bought the second one, as my nutritionist wants me to do the protocol, but I'm only around a chapter in. The protocol requires about a thousand vitamins, so is expensive beyond the cost of the book.

You can get second hand copies of the book for less money too - I bought the protocol book for £12.

Thanks Cooper27 , I was wondering about the cost of all the things that she might suggest. I already spend a lot on supplements, its worth it though as Im starting to feel better. Does the protocol require any special supplements to be bought directly from her or can they be substituted by cheaper alternatives? Also, is the protocol the same for everybody or can it be tailored to your needs? Good luck on your journey with it, hope it will benefit you.

I think it's intended to be a one size fits all approach. It's got 3 phases: liver, adrenals and gut. You do an assessment to figure out if you need to do liver or adrenals phases, and they all come with recommended supplements. I don't think any of the supplements have to come directly from Wentz though.

I'm due to start the first phase soon (once I'm over a stomach bug) I think if you stripped the supplements right back to the necessary ones only, there were 2 multi-vitamin type supplements, and it's about £40 for this month.

I was unsure, too and found one at a library to check out, if that helps? Sometimes they're at university libraries or depository libraries - you could also ask the library to order a copy in for the library, if yours does that. Sorry if you've thought of that already.

No, I didn’t think of that, good idea. I will check at my local library. Thank you.

After watching her recent series, I bought the "Hashimoto's Protocol" so to keep it as a reference.

You can have some information about what she talks about in these videos.

I jumped right to her 90-Day Protocol after hearing the glowing reports of others whose symptoms are no longer leaving them completely debilitated. I have never read the Root Cause. The reasons given in the beginning of the 90-Day book make such sense to me I see no reason not to begin there. I begin the liver cleanse next week.

I don’t have both books, just the Hashimoto’s Protocol but I can wholeheartedly say I’m only on the first section (liver detox) and it’s already helping me!

I have the money so couldn’t care less about the cost of good quality supplements to help me along. My

Health is the most important thing to me right now so I just want to be healthy and feel better (ideally ASAP!)
