I dont think you need anyone to tell you that those results are below the reference range. I would be asking my gp what they are going to do about it. Your thyroid/body needs those vitamin and mineral levels to be optimum so that it can function properly. Dont be fobbed off demand that it is addressed.
What supplements are you taking, if any?
Can you see different GP ASAP next week
Take these results in and ask for correct treatment
Loading dose for vitamin D required. Do NOT accept prescription for 800iu
Full testing for Pernicious Anaemia and intrinsic factor before starting B12 injections
And full testing for iron then most likely need an iron infusion
SeasideSusie is the vitamin guru
Here's reply to one that's not actually as bad as yours
Bumblebeedoodle,
If those results have been signed off as needing no action you should complain to the practice manager.
Your results are deficient, all of them.
Vitamin D is severely deficient. Your GP should refer to local guidelines or the NICE CKS recommendations for treating vitamin D deficient adults cks.nice.org.uk/vitamin-d-d... Do not accept 800iu D3 as treatment. My GP prescribed 40,000iu daily x 14 followed by 2,000iu daily x 8 weeks which raised vitD from <10 to 107. Vitamin D should be taken 4 hours away from Levothyroxine and T3.
Ferritin is deficient and this may indicate iron deficiency anaemia. Your GP should do an iron panel and full blood count to check. If you are prescribed iron it should be taken 4 hours away from Levothyroxine and T3.
B12 is very deficient. Your GP should test for pernicious anaemia and initiate B12 injections. If PA is confirmed you will need B12 injections at 2-3 monthly intervals for life.
Folate is deficient. My GP prescribed 5mg folic acid for a couple of months to correct folate deficiency. B12 injections should be initiated 48 hours prior to taking folic acid.
Go to healthunlocked.com/pasoc for advice on B12 deficiency and folate deficiency before you see your GP.
Iron 5.3 (6 - 26)
Transferrin saturation 12 (12 - 45)
Only things flagged up from complete blood count were
MCV 75.2 (80 - 98)
MCHC 376 (310 - 350)
Haemoglobin 114 (115 - 150)
Bumblebeedoodle,
Iron is deficienct, transferrin bottom of range, MCV and haemoglobin deficient which confirms iron deficiency anaemia. Treatment is usually 3 x 210mg Ferrous Fumarate or iron infusion. If you are prescribed FF take each tablet with 1,000mg vitamin C to aid absorption and minimise constipation. Iron should be taken 4 hours away from Levothyroxine.
