Haus66 Was that the first time you took them? If so you should start one at a time and give a week or two to see if you react before adding the next one. If you start more than one at a time you won't know what caused the reaction.
It would be best to take them with food to reduce any gut reaction.
Magnesium is generally better taken in the evening as it's calming and could make you too relaxed if you take it in the day, could be a problem if you work.
Yes was first time thank you for your advice I'll take the selenium with zinc at lunch time same time as eating then give magnesium a go next week in the evening. my tummy is very sore this morning
It could, of course, be fillers. Have you had anything like it before? Some people do react to fillers.
Not to my knowledge I'm only affected by gluten but this reaction is very similar to gluten reaction. I've phoned holland & Barrett and they said magnesium bottle doesn't state gluten free but on their website it states it is so I'll take another form of magnesium I think later. I'll see if I'm ok with selenium could kick myself I took both as don't know which one. Do you think I should wait until my tummy is less sore?
Yes, give your tummy chance to recover then try again. But I have to say, Holland & Barrett own brand supplements are rubbish. They use the cheapest and least absorbable form of ingredients and use lots of dreadful unnecessary fillers.
Did you test zinc? It should be about mid-way through it's range, and ideally copper should be tested if considering a zinc supplement.
Thanks susie I will take them back they said they would refund me.
I had supposedly full blood tests in December gp won't repeat but I feel they will be different as I was diagnosed with coeliac after testing and hopefully now my absorption will be better than then. Gp just stated everything in range and when I got results printed there is no mention of selenium, zinc, magnesium. I feel I should get them tested do you recommend going to a nutritionist or just using medichecks - sorry to keep asking you questions my gp is very reluctant to do anything only found out I was coeliac as I demanded testing it is like hitting my head against a stone. I had Graves 15 years ago now other things are happening - gut, muscles hurting I'm trying to work out prevention strategies
