Switchiartstng Levo to Tiromel

Hello guys!

Just recently check my blood results and it looks like that there's not much t4 to t3.

Didn't needed thet tests to feel it... :/

Even so, MD insists that I'm ok so I told him i would self medicate.

I'm expecting to have Tiromel pils soon and I'm considering dropping T4 and use just T3.

Curretly taking 150mcg of Levo.

I'm thinking to start half of T3 pill for a week, combined with Levo. If ok, start taking 1 pill combined with levo. Then reduce levo dosage and rise Tiromel....

What do you think?

thank you for your coments in advance. :)

Dalilafng,

It will help members to advise if you post your TSH, FT4 and FT3 results and ranges.

It will be better to start with 1/4 pill (6.25mcg) to see how well you tolerate T3. You might find 12.5mcg T3 in combination with Levothyroxine is sufficient.

Thank you Clutter :)

My results:

TSH 0.839 (0.550-4.780)

Free T3 2.2 (2.3-4.2)

Free T4 1.09 (0.70-1.58)

Iron 38 (30-160)

Ferritine 6 (10 - 291)

B12 314 (246.0-911.0)

VitD 29.1 (30-80)

My doctor insists that our ranges are all wrong, pushed up bu the pharmaceutical industry.....

To this results he just said we need to work on Irron!

Dalilafng,

Your doctor should know better. Ranges are aligned to the machinery the lab uses to analyse results and also to local population averages.

FT3 is below range. I would add 6.25mcg T3 to your Levothyroxine dose and see how you tolerate it. After 2 weeks you can take a second T3 dose at bedtime. I would stick with 12.5mcg for 6-8 weeks and have a FT3 test before increasing further.

Ferritin is deficient and iron low in range. I would supplement iron with 1,000mg vitamin C to aid absorption and minimise constipation. Take iron 4 hours away from Levothyroxine + T3.

Vitamin D is deficient. I would supplement 10,000iu D3 daily x 6 weeks then reduce to 5,000iu and retest in 3-4 months. Take vitD 4 hours away from Levothyroxine + T3.

B12 is very low in range. If you have symptoms of B12 deficiency listed in b12deficiency.info/signs-an... go to healthunlocked.com/pasoc for advice.

Doctors here are pretty adamant in keeping their opinion: "your Tiroid is fine!"

Even when I'm pleading that I dont feel "fine" in ages!!!

I would really love to put aside Levo. Hasn't donne much for me and I think that it had make me gain 20 pounds over this 4 years.... :(

He prescripted me a pill for VitD with 22400 U.I. and said to take one per mounth.

Regarding B12 he considered I'm fine and even tryed to scare me saing I would risk

hypervitaminosis as he would rader dope me with anti dipressents....

Dalilafng,

Well thyroid is not fine because FT3 is below range. Wait and see how you feel in a few weeks on Levo+T3. The T3 usually makes a big difference. I find T4+T3 a smoother ride than T3 only.

22,400iu per month is not enough. I was prescribed 40,000iu daily x 14 days followed by 2,000iu daily x 8 weeks to raise my vitD from severely deficient.

You cannot overdose on B12. It's water soluble and excess is excreted in urine. Your doctor is as ignorant as many UK doctors about vitamins and minerals.

Not what you're looking for?
