Armour gives me side effects and Erfa gives me a different set of side effects. As no other NDTs currently available in the UK I'm considering changing over to Levo plus T3 (unless you have other suggestions).
I'm taking 2.5 grains of NDT split into 2 doses. For Armour 1 grain contains 38mcg of T4 and 9mcg of T3, so total for 2.5 grains is 95mcg of T4 and 22.5mcg of T3. How much Levo do you suggest I try to start with, then add T3 gradually increasing?
Thanks

Why not go straight over to Levo plus T3 in an equivalent, or slightly lower, dose to your NDT? Easier than starting with just Levo alone, feeling rough because of the missing T3, then having to adjust Levo when adding T3.
If you do a straight swap the nearest is 100mcg Levo and 20mcg T3. If you are self sourcing then the T3 will be 25mcg tablets so I'd go for 100mcg Levo plus 3/4 of a tablet of T3 (18.75mcg).
Or if you want to be more cautious then 75mcg Levo and 18.75mcg T3 and see how you are with that then made slow, gradual adjustments.
Thanks, AlicesMother. I get the impression that the strength of Thyroid S can be variable and I'm not sure that I want to rely on the post from abroad.
Maybe one day RLC labs will be back again with NatureThroid, etc.
I got on fine with Metavive until they changed the formula.
Meanwhile I'll see how I get on with levo + T3. Gives me a chance to see what ratio of T3 to levo works for me.
Have you tried Thyroid-S? I find it to work pretty well now that I have raised it high enough. Since you are already on NDT, the transition might be easier for you than for me (from levo only to NDT). I decided to try Thyroid-S rather than Armour or Erfa as they are very expensive and rumoured to be problematic due to various reformulations.
I find Thyroid-S to be very stable once you find the right dose for you. There are some reliable suppliers and I would advise you to ask for details via private message if you decide to try it.
Thanks PurpleCat, I've not had good experiences of getting stuff from abroad. You don't know how long it's going to take and then sometimes it gets delayed by customs.
I'll think about Thyroid-S if I don't get on with Levo + T3, thanks.
