I am running into a big dilemma with not being able to get the correct dose of Nature-Throid anymore (been on 5 grain for 3 years & it has suddenly been dripped to 3 grain) bc I cannot afford my functional med Dr anymore. I'm going to give Thyrovanz a try, that way I can dose it myself.
Anyone that has experience with Thyrovanz, 1st of all he is it working for you? 2nd should I slowly switch grain by grain, from Nature-Throid to Thyrovanz, or should I just go ahead & replace it completely right away?
Also, in case Thyrovanz doesn't work for me, can anyone please message me as to how I go about getting Nature-Throid with out a prescription.
Thank you all very much in advance ❤

Thyrovanz is just a glandular, no or very little hormone. It is not NDT, it is a nutritional supplement. Going from 5 grains of Nature-Throid to that will probably make you very ill.
Thank u for the response. I keep hearing some say it is grandiose & some say it isn't so I'm really confused. But I've been on Thyrovanz for about a week now & feeling awful so I think you're right :/
I certainly am right about it's hormone content, but whether it helps some people on another level, I don't know. It could have a placebo effect. Not that I have anything against the placebo effect - whatever floats your boat! But, it isn't a substitution for Nature-Throid.
It's a thyroid that is desiccated and natural... so it is an NDT. There are people on the FB group Thyrovanz Users who have NO thyroid and are doing well on it, so how would that work if there was no hormone content?
It wouldn't. But, then, I wouldn't trust a Thyrovanz facebook page for factual content. Thyrovanz themselves call it a 'glandular' and 'thyroid support':
Thyrovanz is Bovine Thyroid Glandular in its purest and most original form - made for people who require thyroid support but don’t want all the fillers.
Taken from their factbook page. They make no mention of hormone content, and in general, glandulars do not contain hormones or they would be prescription only.
Just being 'desiccated' and 'natural' doesn't in itself qualify a supplement as being what we know as NDT. The real NDTs, like Armour and Erfa, which state their hormone content, are thyroid hormone replacement, not glandulars and not thyroid 'support'.
The FB page is run by users, not the company, there are over 3000 of us and some who are post TT only use Thyrovanz. They don't advertise hormone content because it is an over the counter supplement, but I can assure you it is there, otherwise there wouldn't be people like myself transitioning from Levo to it very successfully, others from Armour and Naturethroid. There are a number of other NDT products on the market that are also classed as supplements but work well too.
I take Thyroidgold which is also advertised as a supplement. The creator called it a supplement simply because if he revealed its contents he would have to require a prescription for it. He did so because he wanted people to have access to an NDT because of the problems with getting proper treatment through a doctor...due to their ignorance. I have no thyroid and do well on TG 300mcg. It is made from bovine thyroid. Thyrovanz is also a full NDT made from bovine hormones but sold as a supplement.
So what? Many people (like myself here) study posts on this forum instead of simply asking the (same) question (over and over again). Hence, thank you for replying to this post so I can read and learn ☺️
So, there's not much point in replying to a post that is three years old. The people concerned have more than likely moved on. The proof is that the OP has not replied. So, if Cyndi247 was hoping for recognition of her comment, she's going to be disappointed. I think it's only fair to warn people of that - people often don't realise how old the post is they're replying to.
I was NOT suggesting that the post was of no use, or should be deleted or anything like that. Just be aware that this is an old post. That's what.
There is a point to me. I read her reply and it has my recognition, although 4 months late. Cindy didn't ask another question, but wrote about her experience. Anyway, I dont want to seem like I want to prove my point or to argue, but just to say that every post and reply has its purpose and I am grateful to read it.
How do you know how much T4 and T3 are in Thyrovanz? That sounds similar to the amounts of thyroid hormone that are apparently in ThyroGold. Are you basing it on ThyroGold?
I have zero idea how much in it. It's yes based on the gold, and from getting guestimates from the vanz people. Eg asking them. ..if I take this much t4 and t3 normally, how much vanz? And they come back with a range of suggestion that seems similar to gold.
This is a bit confusing to me..I read that 100mg is equivalent to 1grain (65mg) of Naturethroid. Does that sound right to you? I'm converting from 1 1/4 grain (81.25mg) Naturethroid so I would take a little more than 100mg Thyrovanz a day?
Thank you!! I gave it a week but felt so horrible I couldn't even barely function. That was so awful!! Had to have my mom ship me some of her Synthroid (unable to get my dosage at the moment for Naturethroid). I did notice my hair stopped coming out so much when I brush it etc. Other than that it was really not working.
i am also experiencing horrible thyroid dysfunction on levo 75 mcg...have upped over last 2 years with no relief and only worsening. dr will not switch to NDT. can anyone tell how to get without rx?
My twin lives in NZ and has Hashimotos. She has been on this for 3 years and swears by it. I have been on Levo for 35 years and at present have thyroglobulin antobodies of over 4000 plus very low levels of Vit D, B12 and Folate. I found this out my having a private blood test with Medichecks. My GP has refused to do anything. Clearly I'm not converting T3 to T4 and at present have a huge problem. Can't get any help from anybody here unless I pay a Functional Practioner. I'm going to give it a go it can't get any worse. Look at the Thyrovanz Group NZ. It's very I formative and there are 1000's who can advise you.
