Wendypartridge,
Your GP is wrong. You will always have Graves but without a thyroid to attack post RAI you will not become hyperthyroid again.
The goal of Levothyroxine is to restore the patient to euthyroid status. For most patients that will be when TSH is 0.4 - 1.0 with FT4 in the upper range. FT4 needs to be in the upper range in order that sufficient T3 is converted. Read Treatment Options in thyroiduk.org.uk/tuk/about_... Email louise.roberts@thyroiduk.org if you would like a copy of the Pulse article to show your GP.
It may help if your dose is increased by 12.5mcg - 25mcg but you may find symptoms lagging behind good thyroid levels by several months. It would be a good idea to check that ferritin, vitamin D, B12 and folate are all optimal because low vits/minerals are common in thyroid patients and can be detrimental to wellbeing.
Definitely get your vitamins tested.
If you want to avoid the unhelpful GP, like many here you can get them done privately. This will also test FT3

Medichecks Thyroid plus ultra vitamin or Blue Horizon Thyroid plus eleven are the most popular test. DIY finger prick test or option to pay extra for private blood draw
All thyroid tests should be done as early as possible in morning and fasting, don't take Levo in the 24 hours prior to test, delay and take straight after.
Balance issues & sweating can be low B12
Insomnia & joint pain low vitamin D and burning sensation can be low B5/12

Hi wendypartridge I bet your spitting feathers, completely agree with what clutter has told you, endo told me that graves is incurable, you definitely need an increase in levo. The pulse magazine article worked for me gp gave me an increase in levo, my t4 is right at top of range and my tsh is suppressed but to be honest I still don't feel 100℅, not been well since I've had RAi and that's 7yrs ago I'm seriously considering NDT to see if that suits me better.hope you can get your gp to see sense or maybe look for a new one that's more knowledgeable about thyroid.
