Blue Horizon results...comments please.

Hello...just received my results, hugely impressed with the speed of this service. My earlier post, with results, disappeared down a black hole GRRR! Have had to rewrite so if it's scrappy, frustration is the reason!

Blue Horizon test results

CRP 2.3 mg/L

Ferritin 122.8 ug/L

TSH 0.26 mlU/L

T4 total 93.8 nmol/L

Free T4 18.11 pmol/L

Free T3 3.89 pmol/L

Anti-thyroidperoxidase bas 11.7 klU/L

Anti-thyroglobulin Bas 25 kU/L

I didn't manage to fill the blood container so have no results for Vit D, Vit B12 or serum folate. Not concerned about the first two - both tested and treated recently - but unsure about the significance of the latter.

Current dose of Levothyroxine is 125 mg

TSH from recent test was 0.44

Had to see a new GP yesterday (usual GP on hols) about a fibro issue/meds and also asked him about the TSH result. Result...at 0.44, normal. He explained if TSH is 'normal' they don't do further tests because that indicates thyroid function is in order. I didn't say more because I knew I was soon to have advice from the well informed folks on this forum. I have never understood what "normal" suggests given that we are all different with differing health issues. Also, puzzled as to reason for differing TSH readings within 3 weeks.

Comments re my results will be greatly appreciated

Hope I've made it clear enough

Many thanks...

0.26 and 0.44 TSH is not a significant difference. Your body probably has some natural variation within a small range from day to day or week to week. You haven't given ranges for any of your results. If you can post ranges then it's possible for people to comment.

Oh...sorry didn't realise significance of ranges...thought they were standard reference points. Learning slowly! Will post asap.

Thank you Nanaedake

You weren't to know about the ranges but they differ from lab to lab. I don't got to my local lab for testing but the top of the FT3 is 6.8 which is the range my doctor is familiar with but I go to a different place where it is 5.7 so that would put a different slant on the readings.

Update including what I hope are required ranges

Apologies if I'm making a poor fist of this!

Thanks again

Although Tsh is lowish, your FT3 is also low which suggests you are not overmedicated. Perhaps you don't convert T4 to T3 very efficiently?

Will Blue Horizon not send you a kit to test vitamin D, B12 & folate? As you weren't able to supply enough blood ......ring and ask on Monday, if not done so already

Low in range T3 could be one of the causes of your Fibro. I think you are familiar with Dr Lowe who treated Fibro patients with T3 ....
