It is a patient-to-patient tip to fast prior to thyroid testing because TSH drops after eating and drinking as is the patient-to-patient tip to test early in the morning when TSH is highest.
The goal of Levothyroxine is to restore the patient to euthyroid status. For most patients that will be when TSH is 1.0 or lower with FT4 in the upper range. If you are symptomatic you could increase dose to 75mcg daily but if you feel well there is no need to alter your dose.
Ferritin is optimal half way through range. You can raise ferritin by supplementing iron. Take each iron tablet with 1,000mg vitamin C to aid absorption and minimise constipation. Iron should be taken 4 hours away from Levothyroxine.
So my TSH should be lower really. I'm very tired all the time so I might increase to 75mg daily of the levo and see how that goes. I've had an Iron and B12 infusion this morning.
Had you fasted, your TSH would have been a bit higher, but I don't know by how much. Was it an early morning test?
You seem to be converting ok, but both Frees are below mid-range, and your TSH is too high for someone on thyroid hormone replacement, so you need an increase in dose.
Having another blood test end of this month , I've been taking 75mg per day since this convo. Be interesting to see if my TSH is lower , fingers crossed π
