Hypothyroid symptoms can precede abnormal thyroid results by months/years. TSH >2.0 indicates your thyroid is struggling to produce hormone and FT4 12.43 is bottom of the range which bears that out. I would retest in 6 months because your GP should make a diagnosis when either TSH is over range or FT4 drops below range.
Also, check that all of your vitamin and mineral levels are better than good. B12 / complex, D, Ferritin, Selenium, Magnesium etc. Has you GP tested these? I remember that you are gluten free, so that's a good start.
I can't offer any other info as I'm only 2 weeks into levo meds myself, but I know how awful that feeling is when you just despair because you feell so dreadful, starting each day feeling tired and drained. With hindsight I now know that I was suffering several years ago, but put it down to getting older/menopause, and just did less and less, until it got so bad that I thought something must be really wrong, there's 80 year olds that have more go than me.
I hope you can get treatment somehow to start feeling better.
That chart you linked is very helpful but do I need to have both low T4 and T3 AND antibodies for the GP to classify me as hypo?
I have a small amount of antibodies as you can see, does that mean it's the start of Hashis or does everyone have this level even if they don't have Hashis?
My B12 and D3 were pretty high as I was supplementing them both right up to Xmas. Iron fine too. lower range on Folate. Can't remember seeing Magnesium but I have 200mg every night because I get terrible restless legs otherwise and magnesium stops it.
I have horrendous brain fog, dry hair that's breaking off, same with nails, aching, gluten and alcohol intolerence, so very tired and my bones feel like ice all day but I'm hot at night (not menopause I have had a total hysterectomy due to PMDD and have oestrogen and testosterone hormone pellets subcutaneously every 6 months) I've put a stone on since Xmas and I'm not exactly eating loads.
skyrocket Your symptoms sound very much like how mine were. I struggled with feeling icy cold for a few years not realising it was an indication of a health issue - just thought it was me. Then the tiredness etc.
Hopefully someone more experienced will answer specifics on levels but looking at the chart your levels suggest you are 'borderline' as the medics call it. I would call it hypo and stress to your GP that your T4 / T3 levels are low and that you have SYMPTOMS. Ask for a trial - if your vitamin and mineral levels are good, then there is something clearly off for you to be ill.
I can't offer too much else as I am still new to this and only going by my own experience. But I have found that if you go armed with info and ask specifically for treatment, they tend to play ball - but request at least 50 mcg.
