With a tsh of14.10 and your low t4/t3 you are definitely hypothyroid that's if you've not been diagnosed yet or if you are already been diagnosed and on meds then you are under medicated, you also have high antibodies so you Have hasimotos that's where the anti bodies attack the thyroid and causes it to go under active and eventually it will destroy it. But we need more information to be able to help you if diagnosed how long have you been on levo and what dose are you taking, if you have had vitamin levels checked as we can be low in these, what symptoms you are having and anything else you can think of to get a better idea of where you are health wise at the moment, sorry for all the questions but we need much information as possible to be able to help you.
Thank you for replying and asking Raventhorpe I appreciate it.
I was diagnosed by a gp with underactive thyroid in January and started levothyroxine 25mcg which was raised to 50mcg in April. But I had awful migraines, anxiety and terrible physical and emotional pmt for 2 weeks per month.
I decided to try a form of NDT instead (Metavive) but found I couldn't take much. 7 weeks of trying Metavive (and no thyroxine) my results are bad! So I feel forced to go back on thyroxine despite the Awful effects... my TSH on diagnosis was 7. After thyroxine it was 2.8. But after no thyroxine and trying Metavive my TSH is 14 (my worst ever result).
Vits... I was very low in ferritin, B12, folate and D. Around April my results were much better but still needed work as nowhere near great. I've not had a test except for ferritin since which came back yesterday as 77.
I have constant exhaustion. I am practically bedridden and have been for a long time. Without thyroxine my periods calmed down Tons and no more migraines! But obviously I can't risk my thyroid getting worse.
I've had cortisol saliva tests in Dec last year and yesterday. In December 3 out of 4 results were high and 1 low. Yesterday my results were all mostly low.
I think I need to go back on thyroxine and adrenal support. But I don't know how I'll cope with the hormone effects thyroxine brings me. They made me feel extremely bad. I'm wondering whether to try Evening Primrose Oil with thyroxine and adrenal support.
It's my 40th birthday soon and I was sooooo hoping to feel evem just a little better but I'm totally losing hope
Hi, your results and symptoms sound mainly adrenal related and that's why thyroxine in any form is having such a bad effect. If it were me I would get on adrenal support and then shortly after add in low dose thyroxine 25mcg.
Hi tinkerbell22, it does sound like you have an adrenal problem, obviously low cortisol, as you say you have pmt for two weeks of the month. This is adrenaline kicking in to do cortisol's work. You can combat this by increasing glucose intake in the two weeks leading up to menstruation. The thyroxine could be stirring things up a bit, but it looks like you need this anyway. Perhaps try chromium and magnesium to level out your glucose and energy levels. It certainly looks like you have a glucose imbalance issue and it seems cortisol is low, from what you're saying.
