Hi all

Can any please explain these test results please.

Serum TSH level < 0.01 miu/L [0.35 - 4.94]

Serum free T4 level 22.2 pmol/L [9.01 - 19.05]

On a 175mg of Levothyroxine. And had thyroid removed.

Thanks

Looks like you're taking too much Levo. How do you feel?

I've got ineumonia at the moment. I had to go to the doctor last night. And probably had it when this blood test was taken at the same time. Don't know if that throws the reading off or not.. or it might be because I was ill at the point. But don't feel that good. And my assumer is playing up as well.

Your TSH would have been higher at 8 am. How long before the test did you take your levo?

I took my Levo as normally. And blood test was at 12.00.

Well, I'm sorry, but I don't know what 'normal' is for you. But, if it was between 7 and 8, say, then that would account for the high FT4. And, your TSH would be lower at 12.00 than it would be at 8.00 am. I don't think you can conclude that you are over-medicated from that test.

Thank you. Normally is that I take them when I wake up at 5am sorry.

Even so, it's best to leave 24 hours between your last dose of levo and the blood draw.

Hi will have to remember that next time.

It's best, if you don't want your dose reduced! :)

TSH would be lower at 12 ;-)

Yup! You're right! Sorry. :(

Yes it's a difficult one because the tsh is suppressed and t4 over range, but if you've been very ill that can affect things (lower tsh) and the fact you took meds and had blood test at 12 is not ideal. Has the doc raised the results as an issue? Do you have symptoms of being hyper?

My tsh level have to be suppressed due to thyroid cancer. I have to be in a range of 0-1 any higher I'd be in trouble. Because I no longer have a thyroid gland any more. They removed it due to cancer being in both side of the gland. But I've never had a high reading before on my t4. It normally in the normally range and don't have a problem.

That explains the need for low tsh. If doc does not raise issue and you don't feel hyper symptoms, I would leave til next thyroid test and review then.
