TSH over 10, FT4 bottom of range = overt hypothyroidism.

Did you start your Wockhardt 25mcg Levo today?

Yes just had one tablet atm and hoping I don’t get worse like I did before 🤞

You should be prescribed levothyroxine. Normal starting dose is 50mcg per day and should be taken on an empty stomach with one full glass of water and wait an hour before eating. Food taken too soon afterwards can interfere with the uptake as can caffeine.

A usual starting dose is 50mcg of levothyroxine.

Some doctors begin very cautiously. Just in case you are unaware of the procedure re blood tests, the following is some advice to get the best results.

All blood tests have to be at the very earliest (so make your appointment now for six weeks ahead to be sure you get the earliest) fasting (you can drink water) and allow a gap of 24 hours between the last dose of levo and the test and take afterwards.

The majority of members take levo when they awake with one full glass of water and wait an hour before eating. Others prefer a bedtime dose, if that is the case - if having a blood test next day - is to miss this dose and take after blood test and night dose as usual on the same day.

50mcg is the usual starting dose with 25mcg every six weeks until TSH is 1 or lower. Some doctors believe that if it is somewhere in the range that we're on sufficient and don't increase and patient is still symptomatic.

GP should also test B12, Vit D, iron, ferritin and folate and all have to be optimum. We are usually low in some of these.

Had my B12 Vit D ferritin and folate all come back normal yet so tired ... my diet is good so don’t understand why I’m so tired 😓

First, are you very frail with a heart disease? If not a starting dose is 50mcg not 25mcg. Having too low a dose can backfire, i.e. make us feel worse.

Put up a new post and put in the numbers and ranges of your B12 etc.

'Normal' doesn't always equal 'optimum'. Few doctors know much more than taking notice of the TSH alone instead of symptoms (they know none anyway) and it is the aim of thyroid hormone replacements to relieve slowly all symptoms.

The aim is a TSH of 1 or lower with both Frees (T3 and T4) should be in the upper part of the ranges.

Thank you shaws will find out ...

GP says start 25mcg and have another blood test 6 weeks time to determine if I need higher dose... no heart problems ...

'if you need a higher dose!' that's ridiculous and I've no idea why your GP prescribed 25mcg. The usual starting dose is 50mcg with 25mcg increases every six weeks until the TSH is 1 or lower. If our dose is too low we can feel very unwell.

Tick off your symptoms and give him a copy. He probably doesn't know any and the aim is to relieve these.

B12 should be Greten than 600 and if it’s in low end range worth checking

Well have had this for over a year and still none the wiser... first was told border line then given Levo which made me quite ill, so GP said don’t take them and then 6 weeks after the latest blood test (the one that I have shown here) they said you are hypo and prescribed me Levo 25mcg also have another blood test in 6 weeks .... ????

Any ideas whAt I should do as I’m at my wits end with this..

the whole thing is playing havoc . With all my health... I was sent to Endo who said I didn’t need to see him and to see s rheumatologist... then GP says you need to see another ENDO ... appointment not until September
