Hi all

I just got my NDT, THIROYD. This is the first time I have ordered this size, 1000 tablets.

Was yours packed like this? I want to make sure I have got the right one and mine is not fake.

Different to mine, makes me think mine is fake, your label looks better! Mine also says for research purposes only. Yea right, this whole thing is a game and research we are forced to do!

I've been adding mine to the normal one from doc thyroxin. To try to get me back to normal.....

I have purchased THIROYD from this supplier before but not this size. I got 100 tables package.

It worked fine for me, and I was happy with it.

So I decided to get large bottle from the same supplier.

Some suppliers label it 'for research only' in order to avoid the shipment being siezed as illegal (in certain countries). Its not anything to worry about.

Its a long time since I bought Thiroid, but I seem to remember it looked like that, but I don't remember the plastic bag. Mind you, that is rather an improvement since the pots aren't wholly airtight.

Thanks for your reply. How did it work for you?

I am still trying to find right dosage.

It was rubbish for me. I had to take about 30% more than I do Thyroid S.

I only bought it because Thyroid S was impossible to find. As soon as it became available I bought some and the Thiroid sat at the back of the fridge until it went out of date. Nowadays I have about 5 years Thyroid S in the freezer, and get twitchy as soon as my supplies dwindle!

It is said both, Thyroid S and Thiroyd, are the same. I did not order Thyroid S because it contains aluminium.

I am now on 2.5 grains but feel I need to increase it by another 0.5 grain.

Has Thyroid S helped with your blood results? Optimal range?

They both contain the same active ingredient. But are made by different companies, with different fillers. So theoretically the same but....

Thyroid S saved my life. I don't convert levo, but I am fine on Thyroid S. My TSH is suppressed, as is the case with most medicines containing T3. But I run with my free T4 and T3 at the top of the range and feel fine.

I used to take up to 4 tablets a day. But when I switched to taking it on waking, and waiting at least an hour before food, my dose dropped to 2.25grains.

Glad to hear you are doing fine. Wish me a good luck with this journey since I am still new. :)

I think I may have been really lucky. They kept raising my levo with absolutely no change in how I felt. So in the end I was trialled with synthetic T3. It was magical, but I had side effects (only I could do that, I was assured no-one else had ever complained of side effects!). So I turned to Thyroid S. My GP was supportive without actually writing anything down and I was fine like that until I moved. Then I struggled with ignorant doctors for a while, but now I have found the only GP in the practice that is prepared to be supportive.

Doctors are not supportive at all. I am looking for a good dr but no success yet. Don't know my blood levels. I am only working with symptoms till I find a good dr who writes a full thyroid panel, not only TSH.

There's always Blue Horizon. But why bother? The aim is to feel right, not to hit some numerical bull's-eye!

I don't know if it will work for everyone, but I have stopped having discussions with doctors about my Thyroid S.

I simply tell them that its that or top myself, that there is no way I will go back to how I was before, and that it is my belief that everything is a balance of risk and reward. I know there is some theoretical risk, but I have been self medicating for 15 years, and my heart hasn't stopped, nor have my bones crumbled (and I had a DEXA scan recently).

Doctors are used to people self-harming(in their eyes) with nicotine and alcohol. You just have to get them to the point where they realise that its not worth the breath.

What's thyroid s?

SVA57 in reply toEm_Lou

It's NDT brand.

Ahh right, I only take levo at the moment so not familiar with NDT and T3 brands

Good for you if Levo has worked well for you. It did not work for me.

It works OK but not great...looking into other options hence browsing other topics about other options :)

Hi, I want to switch from NatureThroid to a different brand, and it sounds like Thyroid S is suiting you really well. Where can I order this?

There wasn't a lot in it for me - Thyroid-S and Thiroyd were very similar in action but Thyroid-S had a slight edge. I've read reviews by others suggesting the reverse. We are all different.

I'm currently taking T3 only.

Hi SVA57, My Thiroyd looks exactly like that. I got it from that website beginning with A ;-). I've been taking 1 grain since Feb. I had already started to feel a lot better b4 taking it by getting by Ferritin / B12 levels etc. up but still had sore joints. I felt warmer and had a lot more energy whilst on it, but I had a blood test a couple of weeks ago and my TSH hadn't changed at all. It was 3.4. So either I haven't been taking enough or this is a fake and there's no NDT in in at all. Although I've been off it for about a week now and have been feeling incredibly sleepy. That may be down to going out 3 times in a week though, who knows? I'm going to do my own post about the possibility of buying fake NDT. I'd be interested to know where you got yours from, if it works and if it has an effect on your blood results.

Out of interest, those of you taking Thiroyd/Thyroid-S how did you switch over from Levothyroxine?

Did you wean off, or did you switch over suddenly?

Struggling to work out if I'm doing it right, and I'm super scared of needles, so want to avoid any blood tests if possible!!

I was on very high dose of Levo so I weaned off. I dropped 100mcg Levo took 1 grain NDT for two weeks. Then dropped another 100 Levo added in I grain. To be quite honest I felt at my best at that point. But I continued until no Levo just NDT. I do wonder though whether it's lost potency as I have never stored in fridge or freezer as some do.
