Hi, I've been taking Thiroyd NDT for a couple of years with no problems. I recently got a new batch and it seems to be different. The packaging and stated dosage are the same but it now has a very hard coating. I feel very ill and lethargic after taking it for a while and it reminds me of when I was on a too small dose of levothyroxine! I don't really want to order anymore in case they are all like this. Anybody else noticed a change for the worse? Serves me right for gloating about getting a bargain for once! Has anybody switched from Thiroyd to a different NDT brand and found it better? Would appreciate any pointers - thanks.
Thiroyd NDT changes?: Hi, I've been taking... - Thyroid UK
Thiroyd NDT changes?
be very careful about sources of meds....
Is it definitely Thiroyd, not Thyroid S, as that has a hard coating? Have you tried chewing it?
Hi, I received some earlier this year and they appeared the same as before.
I think I read somewhere recently that demand was high for Thai NDT, ingredients low and prices steeply risen. Perhaps your new batch is a fallout from that? I hope it is a one off thing. I’m gutted for you.
Is it possible for your cousin to investigate further?
Is the hard coating light brown? As Angel said thyroid s has hard, light brown coating.
Thanks for replying - no my "mention no names person" - doesn't live there anymore and was so chuffed to get them for me - I don't want to upset her by saying they're no good! It's typical when you're going along nicely with something for it to go wrong (well in my world anyway...) It's reassuring that your tablets were ok so fingers crossed it's a dodgy batch.
I recently bought some Thyroid S from Thailand and they are bright pink!
Ok so far! Only been on them a couple of months so early days yet.
There appears to be a problem with all NDT's. If you go to Stop The Thyroid Madness website or FB page, you will be able to see the widespread problem with all NDT brands and the nightmares that people are going through with return of hypo symptoms and bad reactions. This has caused many to switch to synthetic T4 and T3.
I haven't had any issue with the compounded NDT available here in Australia, will go read that article.
