Vit B12 is 564 enough?

My test came back:

B12 564 (211-911)

Is this enough ? I've just started on levo 25ug. Is it a good idea to take some extra b12 or is my level enough ?

Lisan1,

Anything >500 is enough in my opinion.

Do you have symptoms of low B12? If not, leave well alone. :)

I went to a health clinic this morning - not for thyroid related treatments. I got chatting to the lady and she said that she has noticed a pattern in people who are Vitamin b12 deficient and that is that they are rarely thirsty.

In my case this is true. I drink from my water bottle every hour or so because I know I ought to - my body rarely screams RE-hydrate me.

I don't have a clue if there is a link.

OMG - I’ve wondered about that for years. I never get thirsty and I make myself drink water because I know I need to. What are the other symptoms of low B12 or low Bs in general? I’m tired all the time and still trying to get thyroid levels right so how do you sort out which causes what?

Some people manage really well with far less B12 than you have currently. Just bear in mind that only around 20% of the result you have is available to reach the cells where it is needed. Like so many things - we are all so individual - but do keep an eye on your levels. How was your Folate level ? They work together in the body so the result needs to be around mid-range I have read.

Was this your only B12 result - or do you have others ? Were you supplementing ?

Have just read your earlier post and see your Folate seems fine !

you can find a list of symptoms of B12 deficiency here - overlap with thyroid so can be difficult to evaluate symptoms but as greygoose says I would leave alone unless you are highly symptomatic in areas that don't overlap with thyroid.

Thank you all for your kind answers ! Just got my d-vit back and they are :

D3 95.6 nmol/l

D2 <5 nmol/l

There are no reference ranges for these on my results so my question is are these ok ?
