Hi all

Got a consultation tomorrow with the endocrinology. In the past I just take whatever they say but after several years off feeling fatigued/achy I'm starting to question.

I am Diabetic type 2 on insulin sugars are now controlled, have had a thyroidectomy, have calcium deficiency due to thyroidectomy and B12 deficiency.

Results below i'm just wondering if I am taking the same medication why my TSH and Free T4 differ .

Below are my latest blood results with ranges:

Two lots of results JUNE and OCT

Calcium2.20 - 2.60 2.31 / 2.20

Phosphate0.7-1.4 * 1.95 / 1.37

LDL Chloesterol0.00 - 2.0 1.86/1.57

Total Chol/HDL ratio 2.74 / 2.93

Adjusted Calcium2.20-2.60 2.35 / 2.31

Mean Cell Haemoglobin(27.0-33.0) 30.3?30.3

Platelets150-400 334/319

Neutropihils(1.80- 7.50) 5.78?6.76

ESR0-7 *33*33 This has been rising in April was 14

Serum Ferritin Assay 37.9 / 22.8

( in April this was at 16.4 they gave me prescription iron tablets for 3 months then told to take over the counter which i take in the evening with a vit c tablet)

Serum Vitamin B12 Assay150-900 *>10000.0*>10000.0

( Just after B12 injection prior to injection was on 564)

Each service always blames my fatigue/aching joints on each other eg Endo says it becasue my sugars werent controlled but they are now an still feel crap. diabetes say its because my thyroid meds need adjusting. In the last three years they meds have been up and down currently on 125 levothyroxine.

I just wanted some helpful hints / tips to fire at them :-)

Thanks

Do you always have your blood taken early in the morning - before 9 o'clock - having fasted over-night, and leaving a 24 hour gap between your last dose of levo and the blood draw?

TSH is highest early in the morning, and goes down throughout the day. It also goes down after eating. If you take you levo before the test, you will just be measuring the dose you've just taken, so it will be high.

Having said that, there's not that much difference in the TSH. But I suspect you took your dose before the June test, and that's why it's high. If the conditions are not the same, you cannot compare the tests.

Thanks - They were generally taken at the same time AM appointment give or take 30 - 60 mins but I always have taken meds. I will bear in mind and arrange to have blood drawn after fasting and with a 24hour gap between last dose so I can get comparative readings.

Many thanks
