Hi lovely people. I’ve been referred to an Endicrinologist by my GP and received a telephone call today to say the consultation will be by telephone tomorrow. I haven’t got a clue what to expect but want to have answers to any questions ready. Has anyone had a telephone consultation that can offer any pointers? I have a lump on one side of my thyroid....any ideas on what he will do about this would be welcome.
Many thanks

You posted blood results 10 months ago - do you have anything more recent? what meds are you currently taking? Do you feel well? If not, other than the lump you mention, what are your main symptoms?
Because really you want to feel well, be optimally medicated, with your latest blood results nice and high (free T3, free T4 and key nutrients) with your TSH not too suppressed (because that always freaks them out, even though it shouldn't) ....
Write down what you want to cover so you don't get overwhelmed/brain foggy when it's actually happening.
Hi Fuschia-pink and Slow Dragon thank you for your good wishes.
I had decided to not bother with the doctors anymore because I didn’t seem to be getting anywhere (like many others). I had a blood test done in October privately with the following results:
TSH 4.86 range 0.27 - 4.2
T3 4.95 range 3.1 - 6.8
T4 12.5 range 12 - 22
TPA 17 range 0 - 34
Thyroglobulin 17 range 0 - 115
Vit D 55.1 range 50 - 175
B12 active 150 range 37.5 - 187.5
Ferritin 47.8 range 13 - 150
Folate 6.29 range 3.89 - 19.45
I was going to start taking thyrogold but found a lump in my breast, quite a large lump developed on one side of my throat and my blood pressure was around 200/120 so had to go to the doctors and didn’t start taking the thyrogold. I was then referred to the breast clinic, a blood test was done and I was given amlodipine. The lump in my breast is a blocked duct, so all ok I went back to the GP. It was only when I said didn’t she think I ought to have a scan or something on the asymmetrical lump in my throat that she referred me.
I am not feeling good. I have put on about 3 stone, my stomach is bloated, my temperature is always around 35.5, my pulse is around 55, I could sleep for England (go to bed around 9 and have to force myself to get up around 9). I am always tired, sometimes very anxious, sometimes very down.
Well those results are pretty rubbish, so not surprised you're not feeling great...
As SlowDragon says, your nutrients need to be better, and your TSH is much too high and your free T3 and free T4 are way too low ... and I wouldn't want your blood pressure either!
Any reason why you were going for thyrogold rather than levo?
Suggest you give the endo a chance, and get started on something to help those results.
I thought you had to have a prescription for Levo so tried different doctors at the surgery but they just said ‘we’ll do another blood test and if we don’t ring it’s fine. No need to come back’. Not expecting much tomorrow. I was self injecting b12 until October but stopped because of going through gp. Xx
the Consultation went extremely well. An appointment for an ultrasound is being made (I don’t think the GP had told him about the lump because he seemed surprised when I mentioned it and asked questions like which side is it on and how long have I had it which I would have thought the GP would have told him). He is sending me a slip to have bloods taken and arranging thyroid replacement therapy to start with a follow up appointment in 2/3 months depending on the blood test results. Thank you so much for your help, I would have been so nervous without your input. Xx

I don't doubt it - I just asked because in the UK levo is much easier to get hold of, much cheaper, and the thing that is prescribed routinely by doctors
