Hello,

I just wanted to post my latest blood results and get some feedback. I have a feeling that the labs drawn by my ENT are not accurate.

Here is the timeline of my lab results.

On 9/2/16

TSH = 0.958 uIU/mL (0.450-4.500)

T4 = 8.3 ug/dL (4.5-12.0)

FT4 = 1.27 ng/dL (0.82-1.77)

FT3 = 3.2 pg/mL (2.0-4.4)

On 9/20/16 (Taken by GP)

TSH = 0.762 uIU/mL (0.450 - 4.500)

FT4 = 1.07 ng/dL (0.82 - 1.77)

FT3 = 3.2 pg/mL (2.0 - 4.4)

On 9/22/16 (Taken by ENT)

TSH = 2.651 UIU/ML (0.200-4.500)

FT4 = 0.7 NG/DL (0.6-1.4)

On 10/4/16

TSH = 1.010 uIU/mL (0.450-4.500)

T4 = 7.4 ug/dL (4.5-12.0)

FT4 = 1.09 ng/dL (0.82-1.77)

FT3 = 3.2 pg/mL 2.0-4.4

Dante,

Your latest results show you euthyroid with T4 under range and T3 half way through range. How are you feeling ?? . .. Has anxiety settled down ? .

Your endo's results are fine...just a different range and TSH is variable dependant on time of day and food intake, amongst other factors. T4 is roughly the same as other tests.

Are you supporting adrenals ? ..

Hey radd,

I am feeling much better, for the most part. Still have the occasional setback, but nowhere near as bad as before. The lightheaded feeling is still present, along with some tingling and pins/needles, but again, not as bad. My sleep is still not great, not sure what's going there. I am still tired most of the time as well.

I am trying to address the adrenal and cortisol issues, had my cortisol checked yesterday, waiting on the results. I am taking PS100, holy basil, turmeric, NAG, and Vit C. along with my usual sups. Is there anything you recommend for the adrenals?

So you don't feel that the high TSH from my ENT is out of whack? The ranges are not that much different and I took them at basically the same time, after fasting.

How are you doing these days?

I am good thank you Dante,

TSH isn't high, everything is fine..

Adrenal issues takes many many months, if not years but now your hormones are balanced, you should be healing all round.

My problems were different to yours but I certainly experienced all the weird head stuff. This time last year I was in a very bad way re adrenals, with continuous internal tremors and anxiety but this year adrenals have righted. They have an amazing ability to right themselves if given the opportunity.

Sleep will come, its just another stage in the healing process to be got through. Be patient, take fresh air, appreciate beauty and rest as much as poss.

I always advocate high doses of Vit C .... 3-4 mg daily and if in tolerated by the gut, use as a mixed ascorbate (powder)..

You could try an adrenal glandular ? ? .. I have used them on and off and actually found them helpful. The adrenals become fatigued through unbalanced thyroid hormone by having to produce additional cortisol, until reserves run low when adrenaline is used instead.

Adrenaline shouldn’t be a problem for HIGH cortisol secretion (which dominates all other hormones) and so the whole adrenal glandular may be used as is considered more complete (by Dr P) but people with LOW cortisol may be intolerant of the adrenaline found in the whole glandular as are usually running on it anyway.

See what your results say and if you don't want the adrenaline found in the whole gland, go for cortex but whichever, don't take at night. There is a slight chance of the glandulars turning off (or down) the bodies adrenal hormones, meaning low thyroid hormones by pituitary loop inhibition (HPA axis suppression).

What is NAG ? ? >.

N-acetyl glucosamine, I take it with turmeric and flax seed oil for anxiety.

My cortisol levels have been elevated for months, so I am hopingthey have stabilized. If not, you think that an adrenal glandular, or cortex might help?

Ahhh. .. .. I haven't heard of this before but all excellent anti inflammatories properties.

The adrenal glands are divided into two parts: outer glands (adrenal cortex) and inner glands (adrenal medulla).

Whole adrenal glandulars suit some and not others. When initially taking Nutri Adrenal, it made my head issues// balance//anxiety worsen (which was quite honestly god awful) but taking only the adrenal cortex found in Dr Wilson's Adrenal Rebuilder has been fine and I believe helped me.

Glandulars are a little controversial, with many members either loving or hating them. With rest and support, high cortisol has to eventually level out and adrenal activity calm because the likely cause, your hot nodule and subsequential op, has been dealt with.

Dante, have you tried mindfulness or yoga ? ? . I have always practiced yoga but last year mediation took on a whole new meaning as got me through the most difficult time of my life.

Anxiety is without a doubt a physical symptom but directing the mind definately helped me.

If I am not mistaken, Dr Wilson's Adrenal Re-builder is a glandular, right?

I have Pure ADR, which is very similar, but haven't taken for a long time, so I cannot say if it worked or not. I was really struggling when I had it before.

But I should probably not be taking either if my cortisol levels are still high, right?

Dante,

Dr Wilsons is ONLY the cortex (so no adrenaline) and may be taken with either high or low cortisol levels.

Pure ADR, although contains lots of yummy extras, also contains the whole gland (so cortex & medulla containing adrenaline). It is usually the adrenaline that people have troubles with (explanation above).

Try cortex or if worried, don't..... you have plenty of other really good supports going on Dante.

Good luck.

So I got my cortisol results back, and the am levels are still high.

AM: 28.7 ug/dL (6.2-19.4)

PM: 8.8 ug/dL (2.3-11.9)

I guess the protocol I am using is not working.

Do you think the Dr. Wilson's will address this?

Dante,

I don't know if the glandulars will help lower cortisol as consider them as more an over all restorative aid. I read Holy Basil is good for helping the adrenals and you are optimising all nutrients. You have been very ill and had a big op so probably just need LOTS more time to rest and heal.

Tests are good as allow us to supplement appropriately but sometimes not mentally advantageous as are also a reminder of our ill health. I know my adrenals that were so severely compromised, have recovered amazingly well but I still have potential to go downhill if stress (of any kind) is allowed to be stress..... as starts that infuriating internal vibration thing - I feel like I am plugged into a fridge ! ! ... & can't sleep.

I have always practiced yoga but after last year, made a conscious decision to live even more mindfully & started daily meditation practice. This has been my life saver as it is not the unavoidable stressful rigours of daily life but how we learn to manage them that influences our health. I have stopped testing as learnt how and what influences and each month brings progression.

There has been a little member discussion regarding Ashwaganda recently which is known to help lower cortisol but I have only taken liquorice which also helped to normalise my oestrogen metabolism (HRT for menopausal)..

High cortisol remains elevated at the expense of DHEA which should be kept in balance and coverts into sex hormones. Dr P always spoke of the importance of this balance and I have read that supplementing DHEA can draw cortisol levels back in line. However, this shouldn't be supplemented without blood testing showing a deficiency.

Elevated cortisol can mess up your blood sugars so eat healthy regular meals and never allow yourself to become really hungry. Be kind and patient to yourself.

Chill Dante, best of luck.
