Thyroglossal duct cyst, elevated thyroid levels.

My thyroid levels have been elevated for a while now, they have been going up and back down but always either the t3 or t4 is above the normal range. I got a ct scan and turns out I have a thyroglossal duct cyst that is infected. The question I have is could this cyst be affecting my thyroid levels and when I take the antibiotics to remove the infection will my levels go back to normal? I cant find anything online that says this cyst can affect thyroid levels but this is the only thing my endo can point to why my levels are abnormal.

Luis12,

If the infection is raising your thyroid levels then it's possible levels will normalise when the infection clears. If not, it may be that the cyst is secreting hormone. Your endo may be able to organise a radioactive iodine uptake scan to confirm or rule that out.
