Hi everyone, as soon as I got my BFP I called my GP surgery to get my thyroid test booked in. I had my results back today and my levels are high. From 1.63 in November to 6.3 or something today. I am speaking to my GP tomorrow and hopefully I will get a prescription asap. Anyone not on thyroid medication I wanted to flag that it's worth getting this tested. For those that have been in a similar position, was everything ok? Can't help but worry as my levels have never been so high. I had my test first thing in the morning after fasting! So worried now xx
Early pregnancy and elevated TSH levels - Thyroid UK
Early pregnancy and elevated TSH levels
I should add I am an IVF patient had a natural FET and have been taking cyclogest pessaries (progesterone). Not sure if this has elevated my TSH as well!
I had a TSH of 8.9 during my second pregnancy and the doctor's didn't give a fig. I wasn't on any levo at all until 3 years later.
My tiny hellion is now 2 and full of energy!
You absolutely should push for your levo increase but I am testiment that a high TSH doesn't always spell disaster.
That's super reassuring to hear! I've had to be pushy with my surgery and I think they'll agree to giving me some levo as there's a steep increase. Crazy how this is so overlooked. Thanks so much for your response x

Insist thatGP tests vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12 plus thyroid antibodies
What vitamin supplements are you currently taking
I had b12 and vitamin d tested recently and vit d was 72nmol. I am taking pregnacare and 4000iu vit d supplememts too! Thanks for your help x
For full Thyroid evaluation you need TSH, FT4 and FT3 plus both TPO and TG thyroid antibodies tested. Also EXTREMELY important to test vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12
Low vitamin levels are extremely common, especially if you have autoimmune thyroid disease (Hashimoto's) diagnosed by raised Thyroid antibodies
Ask GP to test folate and ferritin levels plus thyroid antibodies
Bloods should be retested 6-8 weeks after each dose increase
In current situation testing might be sooner
Recommended on here that all thyroid blood tests should ideally be done as early as possible in morning and before eating or drinking anything other than water .
Last dose of Levothyroxine 24 hours prior to blood test. (taking delayed dose immediately after blood draw).
This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip)
Private tests are available as NHS currently rarely tests Ft3 or thyroid antibodies or all relevant vitamins
