Thyroid Levels

I have notorious low levels of T3,FT4 and FT3 (when endo orders) and very low TSH. My Endo is concerned with very low TSH "BUT" no matter how much my thyroid meds are reduced MY LEVELS still drop to low levels NOT raise which is the theory behind reduction of meds.

Anyway, I have been battling psoriatic arthritis flare for 2 years could this be the reason my lab numbers are low? I have been on just about every synthyroid and have always taken 15mcg Cytomel now im currently on Armour Thyroid 2 grains (I feel good) but labs keep dropping. Could the Psoriatic Arthritis cause the low levels, I keep reading about inflammation and thyroid levels.

Which labs are dropping? If you're taking NDT, your TSH and FT4 are going to be low. It's the FT3 the most important number. Do you get that tested?

Hi Grey goose

All my Lab numbers drop doesn't matter if my dose of T4/T3 meds or my current Armour Thyroid has been lowered to bring up my T3,FT4 or the wonderful TSH they continue to drop. I have no thyroid (cancer) I get my antibodies tested alot and they don't measure very low. Had B12,calcium (no Ferritin) surgical menopause no doctor thinks it's important.

Anyway the reason for post was I happen to be reading different articles last night and one talked about inflammation will cause your t3,ft4 ft3 and TSH to drop. Yes, my Ft3 was not ordered this time but the other times it has been and it too has dropped.

Do you think it possible that inflammation can mess with your thyroid numbers? I've been battling a crippling psoriatic arthritis flare for 2 yrs.

Is that a typo, that you drop your dose of Armour to bring up your FT4/3? Because if you drop your dose, your FT4/3 are going to drop, too.

If you've had your thyroid removed, then you don't have to worry about antibodies, there's nothing they can do.

You've had your calcium and vit B12 tested? Were they low too?

I don't know about inflammation causing all levels to drop. Can you give a link to what you've been reading?

My Endo wanted to drop my Armour Thyroid dose from 2grains to1-1/2grains, I declined the decrease this time. When I was on Synthyroid and Cytomel I would lower my synthyroid dose when she asked but (never) the cytomel. My Endo stated that my TSH was too low @ 0.090 (0.27 - 4.20) and LOWERING my dose would rectify this and would help with my other levels although I realize she might be telling stories in order to move me along.

So, lowering my dose OR keeping my current AT the same has resulted in my Lab numbers dropping and I was curious if inflammation could be the culprit. My current B12 and Calcium are all fine my B12 is very high but I do supplement and my Calcium is lower end of normal and I have been told don't worry about it by all my doctors. Im also on immunosuppressive therapy and wonder if this could have something to do with my labs, it does mess with cells...I don't know.

Just wondering because I feel fine better then I have since I lost my thyroid.

Plus essential to test thyroid antibodies and vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12

Any T3 or NDT will tend to suppress TSH

Most important results are FT3, then vitamins then FT4
