Tango2 I was exactly the same with Betaine HCl with Pepsin. I got up to 8 capsules during a meal and couldn't take the amount of water needed as well as the capsules, and I never felt the warmth either. It doesn't work for everyone.
I started taking it twice a day, before breakfast and again before evening meal. Honey to taste dissolved in a cup of warm water, add (gradually increasing) up to 1 tablespoonful of ACV. That works for me and I now only take it once a day (evening).
I was taking, I think, 6 capsules of Betaine with each meal and never noticed the "warm sensation" either. However, my stomach occasionally started to feel a bit uncomfortable, and that stopped as I started to reduce the number of capsules I took. I'd originally only taken apple cider vinegar, which hadn't helped, but am now off the Betaine completely and just take the ACV.
I did all this on advice from a private nutritionist.
