I am wondering whether to try HCL betaine; I am not on levothyroxine and am working on boosting my vitamin levels, I am gluten-free, and don’t currently have any gut issues apart from a globus sensation from time to time, which I am assuming might be a response to low stomach acid.
So I’m interested in stories where HCL betaine has helped; any replies greatly appreciated!

it really helped me in the early days and still today if I get randomly bloated from a meal or feel reflux coming on.
Increasing my stomach acid aided digestion and over time repairing digestion alongside all the vitamins and diet changes I am sure it’s aided my absorption of thyroid hormones too. I only take occasionally these days. I take apple organic cider vinegar with mother at breakfast every morning now 🌱
I followed Izabella Wentz suggestion at first, where you take 1 tablet after another every few minutes after a meal until you feel a bit of acid burn, then you know you need one tablet less than what you first took and you only need to do that experiment once. I got to 5!! So started with 4 after dinner as evening was my most uncomfortable. I think it’s very individual.
Then went to 2 after breakfast lunch and dinner and carried on experimenting.
I was having ACV at the same time anyway, I’ve carried that on as I have reactive hypoglycaemia where I get a fast drop in blood sugar after meals. The glucose goddess cites research that acv can flatten a meal glucose curve by 30%.
I am coming to believe that I have some sort of post-food reactive hypoglycaemia and exercise-induced hypoglycaemia, so I will look into ACV too. How often/ how do you take it?
I shake the cloudy liquid and splash some in my smoothie, in salad dressing, I have occasionally done it as a shot but am not keen, makes my cheeks flap a bit. 🌱🤭
