Would eating beetroot with meals help with digestion?

I was just curious after reading something in an article about it. 🤔

I wouldn't think the concentration of betaine in beetroot itself is high enough to have an effect. You would have to eat kilograms of beetroot to have a discernible effect and I suspect a kilogram of beetroot will upset you more than any betaine benefit.

I suspect you'd turn purple if you ate enough beets to match what's in Betaine Hcl ;-)

And if you did turn purple, you would have to watch out for the Purple People Eater...

hahaha! So glad someone else's brain does that! I'm seeing Violet Beauregarde turning purple in Charlie & the Chocolate Factory!

Now if you were to ask me about that I would tell you that I had never heard it before, I certainly can’t bring purple people eaters to mind.

However, the sound of that music is dredging something up from somewhere distant. I wonder if it was when I was very small?

I think it was released in 1958 :)

Oh, I was 11 then so I must have heard it. Hmmm!

Beetroot is supposed to help with the liver, though.

My mom used to say it was good for the blood.

Is that pickled or not? Jo xx

Our beetroot was always boiled and served with butter

My husband likes pickled beetroot, I prefer the raw ones you cook yourself.
