I can understand why you reduced T4 because it's unconverted T4 which can cause high rT3. I don't understand how reducing T3 helps reduce rT3. If rT3 is very high it's probably best to take T3 only for 3-4 months until it clears.
I was then told to reduce t3 first and if no better reduce t4.
I queried this at the time and was told that if I reduced t3 it would help lower the rt3 as body would recognise lower t3 and would take the brake off.
Then I was told to also lower t4 so the body would stop converting it to rt3.
See why I said confused.
Now I don't know what my next step should be.
Don't want to go t3 only as too time consuming and I don't have the time to do all those sets of vitals
It took so long to get your FT3 up >5.0 and now its back down at 3.9 where you felt unwell. Can you work out whether you felt better on the higher dose or on the lower dose?
DATS are daily average temperatures. You have to take them 3 times a day for 5 days and work out the average of each day. If they fail within 0.1-0.2 then they say adrenals are happy.
Oh Clutter, I can't figure it out as to whether I felt better with lower or higher ft3.
I think I've felt more a bit kind of anxious or jittery since t3 lowered.
Hot flushes driving me nuts so is hard heartbeat and breathlessness but that could be because my rbc us under range.
Maybe you can increase T3 dose to 30mcg and leave T4 at 75mcg. If you aren't going to test any more you'll have to try dosing according to symptoms. Keeping a symptoms and dose diary might be helpful.
Only you know whether you felt better with FT4 5.4 or 3.9. If there is no difference in symptoms whatever the FT3 it seems likely the symptoms are non-thyroidal and may be due to your high cortisol.
