Low TSH: Hi just got my latest results TSH .15 t... - Thyroid UK
Low TSH
It's because of the T3 in the Armour - all 13.5mcg of it. T3 suppresses TSH more than T4 does, so when you take any T3 containing hormone your TSH tends to be suppressed and FT4 will be lower than you'd expect. The only useful blood test when taking T3 or NDT is FT3 - do you have a result for that?
Thanks for replying should I be concerned or is this a good thing that it's this low,in all my 7 years of been hypo iv never been in this range unfortunately I didn't get tested for ft3 will ask the next time I'm due tests
Your ferritin is way too low and your B 12 too.
I'm due a b12 injection next month as I got my last one a couple of months ago and i also take iron tabs twice a day
Claire,
I agree with Jazz re low TSH & T4 result. The brain senses T3 (in NDT) and restricts TSH to compensate so a low T4 & TSH result would be expected. Also more T4 gets converted when T3 is in the meds so a higher T3 and lower T4 result would be expected. You need a T3 blood test to establish exactly where you are.
B12 is too low. Many members supplement with methylcobalamin and take a B Complex vitamin to keep the other B vits balanced.
Ferritin is too low. Members supplement Ferrous Fumarate and take each iron tablet with 500mg-1,000mg vitamin C to aid absorption and minimise constipation.
