Not really possible to say without testing FT4 & FT3.

How do you feel?

thanks for replying

Not to good fatigued weak just don’t feel right.

I am going in to day to see if I can get full thyroid test done.

If they will not do it I will get private bloods done.

Thanks again

How much levo do you take?

Do you always takes same brand?

Any adjustments lately?

Do you test as recommended?

Have you tested Folate, ferritin, vitamin D & B12?

Better you spray - how many sprays 1 spray = 1000iu (3 sprays daily)

Are the other supplements single or a multi?

Have you started several supplements recently? - ie a number of different supplements in 1 go?

PurpleNailsAdministrator in reply toPJ39

You may have started too many different supplements in 1 go,  could you be reacting to 1 of them?

How long have you been on 75 / 100 mcg level?

Test privately if can get everything tested & go from there.

think you might be right about vitamins , like I said I have been in levo for over 30 years, been on 75 x 100mg 2 years

Sometimes a recent dose change needs time to settle, saw you been on replacement 30 years, didn’t know if you’d had a recent change.

You been on same dose 2 years so that shouldn’t be the case.

Knowing FT4 & FT3 might explain change in TSH.

Hair can be affected by nutrients.  Testing and supplementing where needed best plan.

PJ39,

The TSH level alone can not tell us if we are over or under medicated on thyroid hormone replacement meds so it is imperative to have thyroid hormones FT4 & FT3 tested.

When GP's are uncooperative members use private testing ... thyroiduk.org/help-and-supp...

looks like private testing is what I will have to do, but going in today to

See if they will do it again , full thyroid test.

Thanks again

was this test done early morning ideally around 9am for highest TSH

Just testing TSH is completely inadequate

Are you currently on levothyroxine?

If yes how much and which brand

Request GP test full thyroid test……TSH Ft4 and Ft3 thyroid antibodies, ….plus vitamin D, folate, B12 and full iron panel test including ferritin

Or tests privately

When were vitamin levels last tested

are you currently taking any vitamin supplements

If yes, what exactly

Are you vegetarian or vegan

Or on gluten free or dairy free diet

PJ39 in reply toSlowDragon

I have been on thyroxine for 30 plus years

Last test for TSH was 1.26 now 0.35 I have started taking vitamins

ie = d3 with k2 better you spray 3000iu d3 75ug k2

K2 180ug

Selenium 55ug

Vit A 800 ug

VitE 9mg

VitC 40 mg

Zinc 25 mg plus 1 mg copper

Don’t know if this was the right thing to do but any advice would be most welcome..

Thanks

Suggest you get FULL thyroid and vitamin testing done now

Just testing TSH is completely inadequate

Ideally shouldn’t start supplements without testing first

Come back with new post once you get results

Personally I would either stop zinc and copper and test before continuing. Or only take once week

Do you know if you have autoimmune thyroid disease also called Hashimoto’s, usually diagnosed by high thyroid antibodies at diagnosis

Even had thyroid antibodies tested or ultrasound scan of thyroid

High ferritin levels

You don’t really want to be taking vitamin C with high ferritin as might increase ferritin levels even higher

Did you get full iron panel test to see if iron was also high

Are you still only on 75mcg levothyroxine

Which brand of levothyroxine are you taking

Do you always get same brand levothyroxine at each prescription

Was this test done early morning and last dose levothyroxine 24 hours before test

Approx how much do you weigh in kilo

Guiding Treatment with Thyroxine:

In the majority of patients 50-100 μg thyroxine can be used as the starting dose. Alterations in dose are achieved by using 25-50 μg increments and adequacy of the new dose can be confirmed by repeat measurement of TSH after 2-3 months.

The majority of patients will be clinically euthyroid with a ‘normal’ TSH and having thyroxine replacement in the range 75-150 μg/day (1.6ug/Kg on average).

The recommended approach is to titrate thyroxine therapy against the TSH concentration whilst assessing clinical well-being. The target is a serum TSH within the reference range.

……The primary target of thyroxine replacement therapy is to make the patient feel well and to achieve a serum TSH that is within the reference range. The corresponding FT4 will be within or slightly above its reference range.

The minimum period to achieve stable concentrations after a change in dose of thyroxine is two months and thyroid function tests should not normally be requested before this period has elapsed.
