Low TSH
Loopyloo many of us on here have under range or as in my case undetectable TSH levels. What you need to take into consideration are your ft4 and ft3 levels the replacement hormones you are on and whether or not you have hashis. If you have hashis high ft4 and low TSH could be the sign of a hashis flare.
On NDT, combo or t3 only then TSH tends to be suppressed. We prefer to go by symptoms and ft4 and ft3 levels.
On levo only your body could be telling you that your dose of levo is high enough but if you are still having symptoms you really need to test ft3 as well to see if you have conversion problems.
Without an ft3 result you are not looking at the full picture.
Nothing will happen…… TSH is not a thyroid hormone
If you don’t have any symptoms of being over treated it’s fine
Refuse to reduce dose based just on testing TSH and Ft4
ALWAYS Test thyroid early morning, ideally just before 9am, only drinking water between waking and test and last dose levothyroxine 24 hours before test
Is this how you do your test
ESSENTIAL to maintain GOOD vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12
What vitamin supplements are you taking
If vitamins are good and Ft3 is not over range you are not over medicated

TSH is not a nothing thing! there are tsh receptors in other parts of the body eg bones and its thought to affect t4-t3 conversion and even if you discount the significance of that its still an indication of our genetically determined set point ft4:ft3 which in normal health is in a ratio of about 0.3. so below range tsh probably indicates if fT4 is too high and if that is much above 18 there is a significant increase in risks of atrial fibrilaiation. so yes do pay attention to TSH!
Sorry but that was not what happened with me. My TSH was consistently below range with ft4 60%through its range and on 100 mcg levothyroxine. My ft3 was at 17%.
On T4 only my FT4 was 136% through the range, my FT3 was 13%. TSH was 1.6.
For those of us not genetically gifted TSH is better off ignored.
My Tsh has been suppressed for years. I feel better when it's suppressed. I have a new endo and she started to tell me why the tsh was the best way to monitor even the slightest change in medication.
I had written down every blood test for the last 5 years. Most had tsh of 0.01.
I told her in that time I've had 2 grains of NDT ,1.5 grains, 1 grain plus levothyroxine and liothyronine combos. My TSh doesn't change unless I have a hashimotos flare and it goes really high or once I was overmedicated and it was 0.005.
I now have a dose by how patient feels on my notes. So you can educate some endos. My GP however sends a letter every bloodctest telling me I need to reduce my dose as my tsh is showing I'm overmedicated. I always say I have no heart palpitations, no shakes and I'm still gaining weight. If I was overmedicated I'd have different symptoms. I refuse to let them bully me. I'm actually feeling good at the moment. Except the weight gain.
My TSH is below the minimum. The GP was cross. I pointed out that after 16 years of Hashi's, I would not have a thyroid any more so what were they testing. She did not know but it shut her up. I know that what I said is not true, but it worked for her...
I would rather feel well and able to live than feel like a salted slug. My choice, not hers.
My most recent test on 31/7/23 showed a low TSH of 0.15 mIU/L ("normal" range: 0.35 - 4.94) and T4 of 15.6 pmol/L which is well within the "normal" range of 9.00 to 19.10 pmol/L. T3 not tested.
I had a message from my surgery saying that if I was losing weight or having palpitations, I should contact the clinical pharmacist at the practice. They want me to be re-tested in 2 months. What planet are these idiots on? I feel perfectly OK.
