Your result says a normal because it is below range and it's probably pre-programmed as it's online. Some GPs are happy enough with a result just slightly out of range.
What is the range for your FT4?
What time did you have the blood draw? Did you fast overnight and drink water only before the blood (no tea or coffee?)
A low TSH won't make you feel tired, anymore than a high one will. The TSH doesn't make you feel anything. It's the messenger for the pituitary to tell the thyroid to make more hormone, when it's high. When it's low, it's because the pituitary considers there's enough circulating hormone in the blood. But, TSH does not affect how you feel.
It's the thyroid hormones in your blood that cause symptoms when too high or too low. Impossible to say if your FT4 is low without the range, and they didn't do an FT3, so we can't tell is your levels are low enough to make you tired. There are other things that can cause fatigue, like low ferritin. But not the TSH.
She wasn't exactly polite, shouting at me. And, what am I supposed to say? TSH does not cause symptoms, it is the low thyroid hormone that causes them, which is the reason the TSH is high. Which I explained. No point arguing with someone who insists it's the other way round. Not intending to be rude, just resigned.
If you are tired and sleepy a lot it may not just be your thyroid levels. Ask you GP to also check your cortisol levels. These generally have to be done at 9am. With me low TSH gives me low cortisol levels, which gives me weakness. It’s worth checking along with B12, ferritin, vit D, folate, T4,T3 and TSH.
As others have suggested, get your B12, ferritin, folate and VitD checked out. When my B12 was very low I could barely keep my eyes open , every time I sat down I fell asleep! I also felt as though I had terrible weakness in my muscles.
I agree, but I think the T4 was 12.4 which is even lower. Could be central hypo causing the problem. I have been reading about autoimmune pituitary disorders being missed by most medics.
Don’t underestimate ferritin b12 folate and vitamin d.....doctors never think of them as often as they should, when you have a thyroid problem they and us automatically assume the thyroid is responsible for all symptoms. After 6 months tooing and froing private doctors and being diagnosed with hypersomnia........I had private blood test done to find it was these vitamins out of kilt......after supplementation I am better than ever and latest 2 lots of blood show I am converting t4 to t3 better than ever before.
