I just wanted to let you know that we can now offer phlebotomy at 59 BMI Healthcare hospitals across the UK - it's not the cheapest at £35, but you get a professional and experienced phlebotomist in a relaxed and clinical environment.
Thanks Paul, it is helpful when there are no other options around. I still think this is rather expensive. I pay £10 at Winchester phlebotomy service at the hospital. For £25 a private nurse would come and draw your blood at home, in your comfort. Blood drawing takes less than a minute, £35 seems very expensive but some ppl may not have any other choice.
Hi Muscatarosie, that is a great find, do you mind sharing, we are always on the look out for phlebotomists and phlebotomy services that we can utilise, and I'm sure some forum members will benefit too.
Hi Paul, I used The Oaks Hospital at Colchester a couple of years ago. At the time they charged £20 to take blood for Labtestsonline with a Vacutainer. It would be useful to have a nearer hospital than the one I have to use. We are so badly served in Essex and near areas.
It's always useful to have somebody or somewhere to take your blood, and getting the service at a cheap price or even better, free, is great. The £35 is a national rate we agreed with BMI, I'm sure if we negotiated at individual locations some rates would have been cheaper, but we couldn't turn down the opportunity for 60 professional phlebotomy locations.
I'm surprised that Essex is so poorly serviced, you should try finding a phlebotomist for somebody in Northumberland!
Our Nuffield and Spire referral services are also worth a look at in Essex, but nothing can beat the postal thyroid kits for inclusions and price.
Hi Paul, I have used Spire for the last two blood tests, but have to ask my husband to drive me to Brentwood as I don't fancy driving down the A12 without having had breakfast. Nuffield is no closer as still at Brentwood. Spire is excellent value for money. I would use the vacutainer at home but I can't draw enough blood.
Good news, thanks Paul. It's worth noting that coverage for North East England is really poor. The local Nuffield will only draw blood if you're going through them for tests, and there don't appear to be any other options on existing Blue Horizon lists. It meant that I had to opt for Thyroid +10 instead of +12 as there was no way to get blood drawn anywhere in the region.
The nearest I could find on our new list is Darlington or Harrogate. Not sure where in the North-East you are, but appreciate that these might be a bit too far. If you leave the first half of your postcode maybe someone else on the Forum can help out.
Failing that, you can access Nuffield blood testing services by using our privatebloodtests.com site although the equivilant of a thyroid plus ten or thyroid plus 12 would be much more expensive. Different labs, different prices!
Paul thanks for this. Can you give me some reassurance that if I did a test and they took my blood at the local BMI or Nuffield hospital that they wouldnt automatically send the results to my GP if I have been a patient there before so am 'on their books' as it were? Just a control thing!
If you use our new BMI service then they will give the blood back to you to post so no worries there.
With our Nuffield service we provide the referral so the results should very linked to our Doctor and sent to us, not your GP. So no problem there either, but theoretically it may be possible for an administrator to screw things up and send things to your GP if you are in the Nuffield system under your GP. This has happened to one of our patients only once in the last 4 years with a Private Hospital but we have been reassured it won't happen again.
Hope this helps to reassure you, I'd like to give you a 100% guarantee but as we subcontract to Nuffield I can't. They are a nice bunch, why not give them a call on Monday and ask them?
