Please can someone give their opinion on my results? I have been feeling generally unwell for 2 years, lacking in energy, balance problems, vertigo, thinning hair and weight gain. Recent blood tests revealed low Ferritin and Vitamin D and I am on medication from the Doctor. B12 was also low normal so I am taking supplements.
However, I am wondering if all of my problems are really down to my thyroid? I know my results are in range in the UK but have read that in other countries a TSH of 3 would be treated. Also I have the thyroid antibodies and family history.
You have answered your own question. In other countries you would be treated, in the uk you will be ignored until your tsh reaches more than 5 as you have antibodies.
There is no reason for this other than stupidity and incompetence.... Maybe if you list your symptoms and write to the doc requesting a trial of thyroid hormones, given that you have antibodies.
Worth having a read of the booklet by a toft, who is a well repected nhs endocrinologist. He says give meds early, to nip problems in the bud.
