Does anyone know whether Nature-Throid (a U.S. thyroid med) should be taken at least an hour before eating? I know my Levothyroxine and T3 also should be about that amount of time before eating, but Nature-Throid isn't so clearly advised on the pharmacy label. Also, are there any other restrictions that are generally accepted about taking this medicine? Thanks for anything!

When to take Nature Throid?
Hello
I take Nature Throid at night on going to bed - seems to work well for me - been taking it for nearly 2 years.
Sheenah
I am on 2 grains NT and split my doses - one first thing one mid afternoon. I don't eat 1 hour either side and don't drink tea with milk either for the same amount of time
You're not taking it as well as t3 and levo?
No, I'm not on it actually. I wanted to know for my daughter, who's over here from America with a prescription that will run out before she goes back. I came across something that said to take it with food which sort of surprised me ... so I thought I'd put the question out as there are so many well informed people on Health Unlocked, and I'd prefer to go by 'anecdotal' evidence, or else a good report. The ratio of T4 to T3 doesn't seem to be what I take myself - it seems to be about 50:50 with Nature-Throid. No idea whether this makes any difference. With my dose I always take it on an empty tum - as you say you do. Thanks!
Take if first thing as with levothyroxine with a glass of water and don't eat for approx hour. If taking evening dose you allow at least 2 hours after eating or 2.5 hours if you've eaten protein.
I am sure you will feel a big difference and that it wont be long till you feel well.
Do you know if you are on levo already you just switch to the equivalent dose of NDT.
