Hi All I have an underactive thyroid myself so know the trouble that I've had in the past to get a proper diagnosis. My daughter is 33 years old with two young sons, one six years old, the other three years old. She isn't overweight and usually keeps well but during the last few weeks she has felt terrible, very low mood, anxious and very worried about things in general. She's had lots of blood tests which have come back ok. We don't think that her thyroid levels are anything to worry about but as I've had trouble, my mother had problems and her mother also had problems I thought that I'd check it out with all of you. I know that doctors always tell us that we're within range, whatever! Her T4 is 10.7 and Tsh is 0.94. You will probably all say that these levels are ok but some guidance please.

Clover, do you have the ref range for FT4 (figures in brackets after result)?

Did the doctor check your daughter's antibodies. If not I think he should. At the same time he should check her Vit B12, Vit D, iron, ferritin and folate. We can be deficient in these although doctors are happy if we are 'in range'. In range doesn't always mean optimum.
