I've been recently having symptoms of tiredness, irritability, weight increase, even though I'm exercisercing 3/4 times a week quite intense , not over eating, I was given a thyroid test, tsh 5.27 t4 normal. Doctor doesn't want me on thyroxine, but I have begged and cried for a trial, she relented and given me 25mg. Have I done the right thing.

Thyroxine
Absolutely. I managed to get a trial also although my TSH was only 3.28 it turned out my t3 was under even their broad range. I'm now on NDT. Be like a dog with a bone and get another increase as soon as you can.

Yes, you've done the right thing. It will take 7-8 days for Levothyroxine to be absorbed and up to six weeks to feel the full impact of the dose and improvement in symptoms.
Take your Levothyroxine with a glass of water on an empty stomach, 1 hour before, or two hours after, food and drink, 2 hours away from other medication and supplements and, 4 hours away from iron, vitamin D, calcium and oestrogen.
You should have a blood test 6-8 weeks after starting Levothyroxine. Leave 24 hours between last dose and blood draw which should be a fasting test (other than water) early in the morning when TSH is highest.
