My reports give the following ranges

Tsh 3.52 ---normal

T4 15.90 ----------normal 4 to 12

t3 1.28normal .

Does it amount to Hyper Thyroidism . I am not on any medication but have been on diet changes .I am also taking a pinch of Turmeric and a pinch of Amla powder in an ounce of water on empty stomach . I don't have any symptoms of either hypo or hyper thyroidism . I doubt whether the reports are reliable as there is always a possibility of human errors . Two different labs have given two different test results . One more thing I have to ask is whether excess use of antibiotics causes a high value in either t3 or t4 or Tsh . I had an abscess on the finger due to a cut which gathered pus and due to lock down I could not get any medical help . My neighbour a medical intern made an incision , cleaned the ulcer and prescribed Augmentin 625 for 10 days daily 2 per day .In those circumstances I did not have any other option . The day the course was over severe urinary incontinence started. I went for the total check up as some relaxation in the rules of lock down allowed me to have one . The report cleared every thing but T4 came as 15,90 where as normal range is given ----4 to 12 . What deduction can be made .Now the urinary incontinence stopped . But I am too scared to go for any medication for HYPER THYROIDISM .

My TSH was elevated like this in 2016 and I kept getting infections. It was actually Hypothyroidism as my body increasingly struggled to cope with a dying Thyroid. Others more knowledgable will be along to explain in a bit. Are you taking any vitamins and minerals to support your Thyroid? x

I am not taking any vitamins or minerals . In your case it is elevated TSH which does not need any medication up to 8 . But in my case TSH is normal but t4 is elevated .The elevation 3 0r 4 -points. My question is whether this elevation is with in allowable limits , because in some posts I READ T4 CAN BE UP TO 20..

I understand that to be optimal TSH should be under 2 preferably 1 for a lot of people x

These are strange numbers and reference intervals. Is this exactly how the report is written? Normally 'fT3' and 'fT4' are measured i.e. free T3 and free T4. It's possible you have total T3 and total T4 which are not much use. Do they give units alongside the numbers? It would help if you could type out the results exactly as they are written so we can figure out what is going on.

You would have to ask for the units and reference intervals. However, a usual reference interval for fT4 is 10.0 - 22.00. I'm not sure where the 'normal 4 to 12' comes from. Each lab has their own reference intervals so you can't compare one lab's results with another, this is because they use different equipment and reagents.

Thank you . yes , the reference interval could be different .

These are total t4 and total t3 . So the figures are different .

Oh, total figures are not much use. They tell you that your thyroid is making enough but it's the free figures that tell you how much is available. I wouldn't worry about your results.

'' I wouldn't worry about your results '' means\ are they are not too high levels ? (T4)They are total ranges and not free t3 or free t4 . When total results are not of much use why they give those ranges leaving free ranges .So coming back to the initial doubt shall I consult a doctor or just try life style changes . Once we go to a doctor means that is an unending process as per many of my friend's experiences .

They are not too high because if they were your TSH would be low. I don’t know why the people who did your blood test measured total levels, perhaps they don’t have the capability to do free assays, although it is usual now. Do you have symptoms? If so you should see your doctor.

Thank you very much . I don't have any symptoms When I had gone for regular check up I observed this fact . I wanted to know the exact effect and so I posted . All parameters are normal .
