Medichecks results for FT3 are back.

This test was done in the morning, fasted, over 24 H after consuming my last dose of T4. I had been on 175mcg Levo for a month or so before this test, then spent 10 days back on 200mcg Levo before doing this test so mayne not the best timing but I was desparate.

Must admit ive been feeling much better on 200mcg levo. Within about 4 days Id stopped needing to go to sleep during the day again like I was when i was on 175mcg. My brains better - seem to be able to engage in intelligent conversation now! DEfinately a marked improvement but not perfect.

Still dont feel normal so going to try factor in a single grain of NDT with 100mcg Levo and see how I get on after a month.

Do these look OK? I know these are subjective to how an individual person feels... I was pretty shocked to see my T3 at 4.7.

THYROID STIMULATING HORMONE 0.64 mIU/L 0.27 - 4.2

FREE THYROXINE 21.8 pmol/l 12.0 - 22.0

FREE T3 4.7 pmol/L 3.1 - 6.8

I also suppliment iron and multivitamins.

Michael, TSH is low, FT4 top of range but FT3 is under half way through range but the dose increase to 200mcg should improve FT3. Bear in mind that symptoms can lag behind good biochemistry by 6-8 weeks so it may be worth seeing how you do on 200mcg before changing to NDT+T4.

The results look fair enough. Were you shocked that the FT3 was that high or that low? You may not be converting perfectly and since you are taking iron, that may improve when iron levels are higher. Some of the levo may be turning into reverse T3 which may be the reason your FT3 is not showing a higher level.

Your decision may be based on how easily you obtain the hormones you take. I like the fact that NDT includes a little bit of T3 but if it's easier or cheaper to use straight levo, it seems to work well for you.

Not what you're looking for?
