I don't think that's particularly high, looks good to me. You can't overdose on b12 anyway, the excess is just excreted.
Boatseller, 759 isn't high unless the range in your area is particularly low. Most ranges go up to 11-1200 and some to 2,000. B12 top of the range is good.
Hi Clutter just got my results and are as follows B12 247 ng/L (1130.00ng/L) I think this is low yes? Ferritin 176 ug/L (was 88 before put on ferritin two months ago) (15.00 - 300.00 ug/L)
Marmaris, 247 is low. Suggest you supplement 2,000mcg methylcobalamin sublingual lozenges or spray or patches for 6 weeks and then cut back to 1,000mcg.
Ferritin is good. There are differing opinion on what is optimal with some saying 70-90 and others half way in range. Yours looks good anyway, and you can stop supplementing iron.
Hi Clutter only started Iron around 8 November but three tablets daily. My hair was falling out noted slight improvement. Does it matter if I continue? I knew my B12 was low but they always put Normal. Can I get some B12 from Holland and Barratt? The Endo had requested the ferritin to at least 150.
Marmaris, your ferritin is over 150. Maybe reduce iron to one a day if you don't want to stop. Not sure whether H&B do methylcobalamin, but Amazon do.
Thank you for that information Clutter I have a doctors appointment on Monday and I shall be asking for Vit B12 injections.
Marmaris, I think you'll have trouble getting injections as 247 is within range, but good luck anyway.
If you are taking B12 supplement, then it reflects the fact that you are taking the supplement.
It isn't high but it could reflect that you didn't have blood taken in the morning before you had eaten anything, or that you are taking supplements.
Thank you for all your comments. It was high in the blood ranges, this was taken before my new regime started with dr Peatfield.

My son's B12 was very high or above the range like this. I think there is a controversy about where the range should be: medicalcompassmd.com/b12-le...
If this doesn't work search "B12 different levels Japan" and you should find discussions.
In some cases high serum levels can signal a problem with the body's ability to metabolise the substance - I don't know if this applies to B12, or if there is any research on that subject.
However, having read the discussions on the MTHFR gene I tried methylB12 with my son, and I thought I saw improvements - but obviously it could have been a kind of vicarious placebo effect. But if you have any of the B12 deficiency symptoms you could try dropping the ordinary B12 supplements and using methylB12 and methylfolate for a bit and monitor to see if anything improves. Obviously you'd drop them if things didn't get better or got worse. The body can rid itself of excess B quite easily, which is why doctors talk dismissively of supplements creating "expensive urine".
hi,
my b12 has been in the 1100 range (above range at my practice) and my ferritin varying from 5 - 25 for the last year or so. I was initially worried but have been assured by the haemotologist that it (the b12 reading) is a conversion/storge issue and the b12 is collecting in the blood rather than being excreted as normal. As long as your blood count and white blood cell readings are okay there is no problem with a high b12 reading. Your GP might decide to monitor your liver function in future as a precaution but there is no reason to worry if your other readings are normal. I am taking iron to address the low ferritin as it invariably drops whenever I am not supplementing. Hope this helps.
